Calling all Small Businesses...

Question: What is one of the most important frameworks to have in place?

Answer: A Performance Management Framework.

Why?: In a small business every employee's contribution directly impacts the company's success.

How?: Performance Management Frameworks provide a structured approach to evaluating and improving employee performance, critical to every small business.

Some key points to consider are:

Clarity and Alignment: Setting clear performance expectations helps employees understand their roles and align their efforts with the company's goals.

Feedback and Development: Regular feedback helps employees grow and develop their skills. This can lead to increased job satisfaction and retention.

Efficiency and Productivity: A well-implemented framework can identify and address areas of inefficiency, leading to better productivity.

Accountability: Establishing metrics and goals holds everyone accountable, fostering a culture of responsibility.

Decision-Making: Performance data can inform strategic decisions, such as promotions or identifying training needs.

I can help you tailor a Performance Management framework to the specific needs and scale of your business. Flexibility and simplicity will be key to ensuring adoption and effectiveness.

‘Nudge Theory’ – Small changes = Big results

I have spent the last 20 years specialising in ‘Behavioural change’ in the workplace utilising ‘Nudge theory‘ although the phrase hadn’t been coined then.

So why can ‘Nudge theory’ work so well in the workplace? Nudge Theory is based on offering small interventions to people (without limiting their freedom of choice) which lead them to a desired behaviour and, ultimately, a desired goal.

So how can it work in the business environment?

I often use the analogy of people being like water, which we know will always use the path of least resistance. Now I am not saying that everyone behaves in a way which gives them the path of least resistance, but people often make choices and decisions based on the immediate results it might get them.

If we then look at their desired results, we can see that everyone is motivated by different things and will make choices and decisions based on what’s most important to them at that moment. These are often not aligned with business goals and therefore won’t contribute to the achievement of those business goals.

So just imagine how successful your business could be if everyone was aligned with the overall goals and were ‘nudged’ towards small changes in behaviour which directly affect those results?

I believe that small changes in behaviour by managers and employees can provide big results.

It's been a while since I posted anything about me... whilst I have had a quiet time with work I have used the time to train as a hypnotherapist with Ali Campbell (who is one of the top hypnotherapists in the world).
I have just taken my final exam and whilst I am waiting for my results I am offering 'zoom' hypnotherapy sessions at a much reduced price of £25 per session.. once qualified they will increase to £75 per session. Hypnotherapy can treat many things from anxiety and phobias to weight loss. Changes can be seen from one session.. but some people need a few sessions to see a bigger change. I, myself, have been losing weight (nearly a stone so far) without much effort and my fear of spiders is reduced, I no longer panic when I find one near me and just 'let it be'.
People often ask me what it is:
Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses hypnosis to treat a health concern. Hypnosis in itself is not a therapy — it’s an everyday waking state we often fall into without even trying. For example: We experience driving hypnosis; that’s a normal waking state where you’re driving down the road, and all of a sudden you get to your destination, and you can’t remember how you got there. Artists and musicians also achieve a hypnotic state, where hours fly by and then they look up from their project and think, ‘Where did the time go?'
Hypnosis (a state of deep relaxation and focused concentration) is used to help treat certain mental and physical health conditions. It can also be used to change habits. Therapists also use hypnosis to increase the effectiveness of other psychological treatments, or pain management.
It is important to understand that no-one loses control of themselves during a session because hypnotherapy is a joint process where we work together.. towards a solution.
If you, or someone you know, would like me to work with you/them please PM (private message) me and we can set up a free 15-minute virtual consultation to discuss what you would like to work on.

A lovely recommendation and feedback from a recent customer:

We engaged Jo to provide our company with a 5 module Management Training and Development Program.
We found the course to be very well structured with excellent, easy to follow content.
Jo is a consummate professional with a relaxed style of presenting which not only educated but entertained and engaged everyone involved.
She was extremely flexible and fitted in with our unpredictable time demands.
The course was definitely a worthwhile exercise and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
We now have an energised and well trained management team!
Thank You Jo.
