Channel Gliding Club

To all of our followers, those who who have visited us, those who support us, it is with regret that we share the news that sadly, The Channel Gliding Club will cease to have an airfield to utilise after this year. Disappointingly, after nearly 40 years, our lease will expire and unfortunately we have been informed it will not be renewed in favor of the clubhouse being demolished and being replaced with dwellings. Naturally we are all devastated and have taken the opportunity to object to the planning application on the Dover District Council website (Ref: 22/01090) The application states that the belief is we do not add as much value to the local community, as a holiday let, something we wholeheartedly disgaree with. We are really looking forward to the weekend as we go back in time and welcome a number of vintage gliders from around the country for a ralley. To add a bit of flavour a 1950s chipmunk will be towing them up..come and see the action at the club. All visitors welcome!

A few club members went to Channel Gliding Club over the weekend to take advantage of their visiting tug. Two of our younger members, Sam and Shayan, had their first aerotow experience today. The SHGC members would like to thank the guys at Waldershere for making them feel so welcome. Everyone had a great time and the weather was amazing.

Huge Congratulations to Jack on his first solo today... AND on his 17th birthday! What a way to celebrate!
