River Pre-School River Pre-School has been established for over 35 years.

We aim to:
-Provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age with emphasis on 'learning through play'.
-Work in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop.
-Add to the life and well-being of the local community.
-Offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.

🌞Another fabulous week at pre school, we’ve really been enjoying and making the most of this beautiful September sunshine. The outside environment really supports and encourages physical development and the children have shown us their amazing running, jumping, balancing and climbing whilst showing their PSED skills in working together supporting their friends in learning new things. River rabbit even joined us and loved being pushed on the swings and sliding down the slide he was even treated to a bounce and a sing a long on the parachute! This week we will be talking about harvest and collecting donations for the food bank, any donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you 😊

What a lovely start to term 1 our theme for this term is Autumn and looking at the changes in our environment. The children enjoyed a walk to Kearsney abbey this week exploring and finding lots of leaves, pine cones and conkers. Our book of the month in preschool is the leaf thief so we had lots of fun creating and decorating our own leaf thief with all the exciting different coloured leaves we found on our walk.

🥳 River Pre-School would like to royally remind parents and carers that we still have spaces for September 2023 for children aged 2 - 4 years. We have spaces for 15/30 hour government funding and FF2.
Please call 01304 449302 to speak to the office or email [email protected] to enquire for our current prospectus and application forms. We welcome visits so please call up and arrange a tour by Sarah Wilder the Early Years Manager.

🥰 We are always very thankful to River Primary School, who allow us to visit and use their outside areas. Being a small Church Village Pre-School our outside area has always been small, meaning we have had to always think outside the box on the environment and adapt with our mud kitchen area, our vegetable planting area and small running spaces. So to have such wonderful kind neighbours across the road called River Primary School, we suddenly have access to space, grass, climbing equipment and more importantly the children have an early visual transition to a school environment. This encourages the children to play and explore, investigate and experience things with a 'have a go' attitude in a safe space.
Thank you for enabling us to pursue happy, healthy and active lives.

*Using our Senses* Our Rising Fours have been out and about to listen to the sounds of Lewisham Road!!! 😃
The children closed their eyes tightly shut and really listened hard to the sounds close to our Pre-School environment.
Birds 'Tweeting' Cars 'zoooooming' Gates 'Creaking' Trees 'whoooshing' Prams 'squeaking' Feet 'stomping' and much much more, the children loved using their own clipboards to make notes and draw what they could hear and discussed this together in groups.
*Understanding the world provides a powerful, meaningful context for learning across the curriculum. It supports children to make sense of their expanding world and their place within it through nurturing their wonder, curiosity agency and exploratory drive*
