This term, Key stage 3’s French unit has been: Je me présente
The unit begins with the students getting used to French pronunciation and using the French alphabet, followed by basic introductions and saying how you feel, talk about pets, food, family, numbers, ages, dates and school equipment.
This week the students have been able to give opinions about a variety of different free time activities such as football, rugby, rap and dance.
Examination style questions such as the completed one shown here are based on GCSE specifications and designed to check and evidence student progress throughout the unit of work.

The year 10 and 11 media groups have been creating advertising projects for the Regent Centre in Christchurch. As part of the project students enjoyed a trip to the centre, including a backstage tour and a chance to discuss their advertising ideas with the manager, Sara.
These links with local business help our media students understand how their skills can be used in employment, as well as seeing a variety of businesses and opportunities in the local area. Thanks Regent Centre for having us!

This week our Key Stage 3 class and year 11 did physics practicals.
In KS3, we carried out an insulation experiment to investigate the best and worst insulators. We used bubble wrap, a tea towel and cotton wool to wrap beakers of hot water and compared the change in temperature for these beakers to the change in temperature for a beaker with no insulation. Can you guess which was the best insulator?
In year 11 we carried out an acceleration experiment to investigate the effect of increased weight on the acceleration of the car. We measured the time the car took to travel down the ramp and the time it took to pass through the light gate to calculate the change in velocity and the acceleration of the car. How do you think adding more weight affected the acceleration?

As part of our A Level English Literature programme of study, we are covering the Romantic Poets. As part of Assessment Objective 3, which asks students to demonstrate their understanding of the contexts of literary texts they study, a student presented their independent research on William Blake. It was very informative and showed an in-depth knowledge and understanding in preparation for their upcoming exams this year.
