😴💤 Safer Sleep at Shining Stars 🌟

As you may or may not be aware, safer sleep guidance has recently been updated.

We have always followed safer sleep guidance and will continue to make sure children have a safe, comfortable and supportive sleep environment. ❤️

But one thing we absolutely love is giving the children some independence around their sleep routine.

They LOVE helping to get the sleep mats and sheets ready… although their idea of “helping” doesn’t always make the job quicker! 🤣🙈

From carrying mats to finding sheets, pulling things around and generally getting involved, they are developing independence, responsibility and practical life skills — all while getting ready for a well-earned rest. 🥰

Sometimes the best learning happens when we let them have a go!

🏗️ We had SOOOO much fun at the play café! 🧡

Construction play gave the children so many opportunities to extend and build upon their learning — all while having a brilliant time!

🔨 We explored, experimented and problem-solved
🧱 We built, balanced and worked out how things fitted together
🔢 We explored early maths, shape, size and quantity
🔬 We investigated simple scientific concepts through hands-on play
💪 We developed physical skills, hand strength and coordination
🗣️ We communicated, shared ideas and worked together
🤝 We practised cooperation, turn-taking and teamwork

What might look like “just playing” is actually a wonderful opportunity for children to develop skills across all areas of learning.

Play is how children learn. 🌟

Who says building is just about knocking things down and putting them back together? 😉

Construction play gives children endless opportunities to explore, experiment and problem-solve.

And when it all comes crashing down… we simply build it again! 😄

Construction play supports so much more than physical development — it encourages curiosity, creativity, perseverance, early maths, language and problem-solving.

Sometimes the simplest play has the biggest learning opportunities. ❤️

Childminder on summer break but the only place with aircon is back at work in the play cabin 🤣🥵🥵
