🌳 since the children have begun to master using pegs ... it was time for a new challenge! Den building! ⛺️ (I think the adults had as much if not more fun than the children 😂🙈)

We ended the morning by exploring the beach before heading back for a well earned lunch and rest ☺️

🌳forest school!

A key focus area for the children this term is working on hand strength, dexterity, and coordination.... all crucial for building the muscles needed for later writing ✍️

This inspired our forest school activity last week....

Using pegs to decorate our favourite tree with beautiful autumnal colours! 🌳🍂

100% this....

As early years practitioners we base our pedagogy around the individual needs of each child, we celebrate the process over the outcome and tailor our teaching and curriculum to meet the children where they are valuing their individual journeys.... this should not change when they enter reception ... every child is on their own path that cannot and should not be based upon adult predetermined outcomes or we risk setting them up for failure

It all started with Supertato! 🦸‍♂️🥔

What better way to bring the story to life than by heading out into the garden to harvest our very own potatoes! 🌱

The children dug up the white potatoes, washed them, helped prepare them and then turned them into homemade chips for snack! 🍟😋

From Supertato to super snack! 🥔🦸‍♂️🍟

A lovely little garden-to-table experience this week! 🍠🌱

We harvested our sweet potatoes from the garden, gave them a good wash, prepared them and then enjoyed them mashed for snack! 😋

The children were involved throughout — including washing up afterwards! 🧽

So much learning in something so simple:
🌱 Understanding where food comes from
👐 Fine motor skills and hand strength
🔪 Practical life skills and independence
🧠 Sequencing and following a process
👃 Sensory exploration
💬 Language, communication and teamwork
🍽️ Positive experiences with food

And of course… the best part was eating something we had grown ourselves! 💚🍠
