Child Protection remains central to my work as a teacher, tutor and volunteer with Girls' Brigade. Earlier in the year, I completed my Child Protection and Safeguarding training with Girls' Brigade and have just completed a similar training for tutoring.

Home from a fabulous week in beautiful Menorca. In between the mountains of washing I have been preparing summer holiday booster sessions and am really looking forward to seeing some of my students in the next few weeks. I hope everyone is having a lovely summer break so far ☀️🛫🏖️.

My student read a ‘Rhino Readers’ book from . We then used the colourful semantics frame to construct a sentence about the story.

Learning about the a-e split digraph with the help of a (wooden) cake! Lots of my students are learning their phonics through the Read Write Inc scheme and little props can help to bring the mnemonics to life.

We have enjoyed playing Times Table Jenga this week. Each brick has a times table fact on it, including the facts that seem most tricky to learn, helping students practise in a fun, more relaxed way.

We have explored recognising and finding a half.
My student knew the symbol for a half but was unsure what it meant so we spent some time exploring each part: the numerator, the fraction bar and denominator.
