After an extensive recruitment process we are pleased to share that we have appointed Mr. Field as the new permanent Head of St Teresa's.

During his time as the Acting Head, he has brought fresh energy, strengthened staff development, and continued to ensure high academic standards while nurturing the special character of St Teresa’s. Supported by an outstanding senior team, he will continue to champion excellent teaching, pastoral care, and a vibrant co-curriculum.

Wishing Charlie all the very best as she starts university on Friday, beginning her journey in Medicine at Belfast. Huge well done on everything she’s achieved so far — exciting times ahead, and we’re all so proud! It was lovely seeing you this week checking out the new Sixth form premises.

Our CCF proudly took part in the recent Remembrance Parade in celebration of VE Day.

VE Day holds a special place in our school’s history. In 1945, peace was marked in a truly memorable way, as almost the entire school gathered to celebrate:

“Peace in 1945 was celebrated when almost the entire school danced around a bonfire at the far end of Effingham Common, nuns and pupils linking arms and singing while marching back to the Covent in the dark, the church bells becoming fainter and fainter.”

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Sister Carmel, a cherished member of our school community for nearly her entire life. She began her journey here as a pupil, later returned as a novice, and eventually devoted her life to serving as a Sister at St Teresa’s. Our School was more than just a place of learning for her—it was her home, her calling, and the heart of her lifelong dedication.

Her kindness, faith, and unwavering commitment to our school and its students have left an indelible mark on countless members of our community. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit and legacy will always be a part of the school.

May she rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who mourn her loss.

On this International Women’s Day, we honor the incredible woman who founded our school, the nuns whose dedication built its foundation, and the students who continue to shape its legacy. Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of the women who make our community what it is.
