Happy Feast Day of St Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower, our Patron Saint.

Today, pupils, staff, families and friends of St Teresa's have come together to celebrate the values that have shaped our school for generations.

To all our Old Girls, wherever life has taken you, we hope you will take a moment today to remember your connection to St Teresa's. Whether you left recently or many years ago, you remain an important part of our story and our community.

From classrooms and chapels to lifelong friendships and cherished memories, the spirit of St Teresa's continues to unite us across the years and around the world. Rooted in the values of our founders and inspired by St Thérèse's simple message of doing ordinary things with great love, we remain connected by a shared heritage and sense of belonging.

Today, we celebrate not only our Patron Saint, but also the generations of women whose lives have been shaped by St Teresa's and who continue to embody its values in their families, communities and careers. Happy Feast day to us all.

We are delighted to celebrate another excellent set of GCSE results, reflecting the hard work, dedication and ambition of our pupils, supported by dedicated staff and families.

Key highlights include:
Grade 9s increased from 10% to 12%
Nearly a third of all grades awarded were Grade 8 or 9
Almost half of all grades awarded were Grade 7 or above

These strong outcomes are underpinned by exceptional Value Added performance, demonstrating that pupils are making significantly stronger progress than national expectations and achieving beyond predicted outcomes.
At the heart of our success is a commitment to unlocking every pupil's potential through excellent teaching, personalised support and a deep understanding of each individual. Alongside academic achievement, our pupils benefit from outstanding pastoral care, exceptional facilities and a wealth of opportunities that enable them to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

We congratulate all of our pupils on their achievements and wish them every success as they embark on the next stage of their educational journey. We look forward to welcoming many of them into our co-ed Effingham Sixth Form in September, as they continue their journey with us.

Effingham Sixth Form is celebrating its best-ever value-added performance following this year’s A-Level results, with students achieving exceptional outcomes across a wide range of subjects and future pathways.

Our results place Effingham Sixth Form in the top 10% nationally for adding value from GCSE results to A-Level results, reflecting the commitment, determination and hard work of our students, alongside the dedication of our staff.

This year's destinations reflect the remarkable breadth of opportunities our students have embraced. Alongside a place at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, to read Psychological and Behavioural Sciences, students are progressing to the Universities of Liverpool and Buckingham to study Medicine, while others are heading to Bath and Nottingham to pursue Mechanical and Automotive Engineering and Kings and UCL to study Politics and International Affairs as well as Business.

Criminology, Sociology, Psychology and Biomedical Sciences continue to be popular choices, with students progressing to a wide range of universities, including Exeter, Southampton and Surrey.

Our creative and performing arts students have also enjoyed outstanding success, with students securing places at the Universities of Leeds and Leicester to study Theatre and Dance, alongside exceptional achievements in Art, Photography and Textiles, with a place secured at the prestigious Central St Martin's, showcasing the strength and diversity of our creative disciplines.

Our students' ambitions extend well beyond the UK, with places secured at McGill University, Canada, to study Computer Science and at the University of Sydney to study Humanities, reflecting the global outlook and aspirations of our Sixth Form community.

We are delighted to share the findings of our latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)inspection. Inspectors recognised that our core values are consistently embedded across the school and that they underpin pupils’ development, relationships and readiness for life beyond St Teresa’s.

They also praised the effectiveness of leadership and governance, noting the strong oversight of key areas such as safeguarding and the clear strategic direction of the school. The quality of education is highlighted as a key strength, with teaching enabling pupils to make good progress within a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by an extensive range of co-curricular opportunities and high levels of participation.

The report is particularly strong in recognising pupils’ personal development and wellbeing. It highlights the positive relationships across the school, pupils’ confidence and articulation, and the supportive pastoral environment in which pupils feel safe, valued and well cared for. The inspectors also commented very favourably on the pupils themselves, noting their respect for one another and their readiness to contribute positively to school and wider community life.

Safeguarding is rightly identified as a significant strength, with a robust culture in which pupils’ wellbeing is prioritised and supported.

This report reflects the dedication of our staff, the support of our parents and, above all, the many strengths of our pupils. Thank you for the part you play in supporting St Teresa’s and helping our community to thrive.

An inspiring and productive day for our Year 12 students as they explored university applications, apprenticeships and future pathways. Through personal statement workshops, UCAS preparation and specialist sessions, students reflected on their strengths, built confidence in their next steps and explored the many routes available to them. A valuable opportunity to prepare for their journey beyond sixth form.

It was a pleasure to welcome members of our school, alumnae, ex-staff, and neighbours to our Community Tea & Evensong event in the Chapel. Following refreshments and cake, guests enjoyed a beautiful Evensong service accompanied by performances from our talented choir. Thank you to all who joined us.
