Cheselbourne Village School

Cheselbourne Village School CVS is a small, rural first school set in the heart of the beautiful Dorset countryside. This old brick and flint building can still be seen today.

The first school in Cheselbourne was built in 1861 in the grounds of the Rectory at the expense of the Reverend Thomas Birch. After a fire damaged this first school the present school was built in 1909 and many of the old Victorian features can still be found. Children attended this school until the age of 14. Girls and boys had separate entrances and playground – girls playing at the front of the

school, boys at the back where there was room for a game of football! At one time there was a wooden fence dividing the rear yard! In the late 70’s the school changed from a primary school (5-11 years) to a first school and over the years there have been various building alterations/extensions – outside toilets were used right up ‘til 1991!

What a fantastic afternoon at our Cheselbourne Village School Summer Bonanza.

A huge thank you to the CSF for organising and funding such a great event. The children had an amazing time enjoying the inflatables, glitter tattoos, bracelet making, and that brilliant magic show.

A special thank you also goes to Donna and Loren, who worked so hard throughout the afternoon to make sure everything ran smoothly, and also to Hayley for delivered some ice cold refreshments. We’d also like to say a particular thank you to Donna for all her support as a member of the CSF over the years.

Another very special thank you to Eve and her family for so kindly hosting the event at the Manor House. We are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy that beautiful setting in the heart of our community. The glorious sunshine definitely helped, and it was lovely to see the All Stars Cricket session taking place alongside our event, with everyone enjoying the fantastic weather together.

Thank you to everyone who came along, supported, and helped make it such a great afternoon. What a wonderful way to celebrate another successful year at Cheselbourne Village School.

GENTLE REMINDER FOR TODAY - 🚶‍♂️ Community Notice 🚶‍♀️ - PLEASE SHARE

On Monday 20th July, pupils and staff from Cheselbourne Village School will be walking to The Manor House, Cheselbourne, between 1:15pm and 1:40pm as part of our Summer Bonanza.

We know this is a very busy time for our local farms and that there is often more traffic on the roads. We would be very grateful if everyone could help us by spreading the word and reminding drivers to take extra care during this time.

If you are travelling through the village, please stick to the 20mph speed limit, be aware that children will be walking along part of the route, and pass with extra care and consideration.
