Arborinary Science is a new Discipline/Subject which was thought of and then created by Benjamin Hamish Collin in 2014. He realised the need for this new Discipline whilst working as a Course Manager for Arboriculture at Kingston Maurward College in Dorset in the UK.

The subject of Arborinary Science is divided into 3 sections which are Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment.
Each section is divided different topics:
Prevention is divided into Establishment, Development and Longevity.
Diagnosis is divided into Examination, Specimen Collection & Data Recording and Laboratory Analysis.
Treatment is divided into Disease, Disorder and Injury.

Arborinary Science is a discipline that encapsulates the subject areas of Arboriculture, traditional Tree Surgery and modern Diagnostic & Aseptic techniques.

A Bachelor Degree in Arborinary Science (BArbSc) needs to be the minimum qualification required to carry out certain treatments on a tree. For example, the use of specific chemicals and significant pruning operations. The holder of a BArbSc would need to have achieved competency in laboratory based diagnostic techniques, pathogen specific chemical treatments and all the practical tree surgery operation qualifications.

Urban trees are part of our constructed environment. They offer us protection from UV radiation, the wind, the rain and adsorb pollution from cars. Trees reduce traffic noise and add moisture to the air during periods of hot weather. They increase property value. They also reduce levels of stress and improve mental health. They are an urban human's best friend.
