Thanks to Dr Ennion for being our water monitor this summer at St Mary's St Mary's CE Middle School, Puddletown and making sure the Seedlings pupils' hard work was rewarded! They grew lots of tomatoes, courgettes, sunflowers, runner beans, lettuce and herbs which he popped in a box for them to collect if they were passing!

Dr Ennion has just been by school to water 🚿 the plants and produce which was planted by our Forest School 🌳 and Seedlings🌱 pupils.

There is a box 🗃️ now out the front of school so those children who were apart of it are welcome to drop by and grab some of their lovely veggies! 🩵

Right now, there are runner beans 🫛 courgettes, parsley 🌿 sage and some lovely sunflowers 🌻 🌻

We're starting a small weekly gardening and outdoor learning club for home-educated children this September

6-week block | 2 hours per week | £90 (supported places available)

Children will spend time outdoors growing, gardening, exploring nature and learning practical skills through hands-on activities.

We're looking at small groups with sessions during the school day.
Ages: 5-11

We're currently gauging interest for a September start. If you'd like to hear more, please register your interest by emailing [email protected]

We had a lovely Seedlings family day out this week when we visited Maiden Castle Farm to see this year's incredible sunflower crop! Some of our school gardeners have grown their own Maiden Castle sunflowers again this year thanks to Hazel's kind donation of seeds 🌻

Their theme this year is Love the Buzz which was well up our street as our summer term theme was all about pollinators 🐝🦋 and the field was certainly buzzing with insects.

Most of our schools have tasked us to keep watering over the summer holidays- especially important this year! 🥵
It's not quite as fun doing it alone rather than with a team of children armed with 'watering pistols'!
But very important not to lose all the hard work that's been invested over the past year 🌱

Giant leaves and muddy knees! End of term has meant lots of harvesting, digging for nuggest of gold (potatoes!), herbs, eating fresh peas off the vine and fanning ourselves with huge rhubarb leaves (and deciding it definitely needs sugar 😅).
What a great term we have had at St Mary's CE Middle School, Puddletown and all of our Seedlings schools here in Dorset.

🧅 Thank you Seedlings Education… some of our students are enjoying some home grown onions from Broadmayne’s garden in their Fajitas for dinner tonight!
🌻We can highly recommend signing your child up to be part of our Tuesday gardening club after school… the children have such a lovely time with James learning how to care for their own garden.
🌱 Watch this space for some exciting developments to the garden over the summer too… 👀
