Imaginative play is an essential part of toddler development, helping children build cognitive, language, social, and emotional skills. Through pretend play, toddlers learn to think creatively, solve problems, communicate effectively, and understand the feelings and perspectives of others. It also encourages independence, confidence, and self-expression. By providing opportunities for imaginative play, childminders support children's overall growth and lay a strong foundation for future learning and development.

See the dinosaurs STOMP STOMP STOMP & RAWR RAWR RAWR...

Northgate Community Hub did a fantastic job again this week of catering to the childrens developmental needs with a wide range of activities for free flow play.

This consisted of matching colours with the dinosaurs and the colourful balls and pincer grasp collecting balls. Stomping the dinosaurs in small world imaginative play, reading dinosaurs stories, making music and textured stepping stones, messy play with "dinosaurs eggs" and lots more.

Thanks for having us! We had a great time 🫢

Teaching children and toddlers about Pride and the LGBTQ+ community helps foster kindness, respect, and an understanding that families and people can be different in many ways. Age-appropriate education can encourage empathy, reduce prejudice, and support an inclusive environment where all children feel valued and accepted. By introducing concepts of diversity, fairness, and belonging from an early age, educators and caregivers can help children develop positive social skills and a greater appreciation for the experiences and identities of others.

This weeks activities so far-
πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ "Proud to be me" worksheet where we shared our understanding and opinions.
πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Spreading cheer with our flags we made in creative play.

Child accident prevention week 2026.

I support child safety.

This week the children have completed a pop quiz regarding safety symbols, colouring & word searches. Only small activities due to times for before and after school clubs. However still information to keep the children safe.

"Child Safety Week is the Child Accident Prevention Trust’s annual community education campaign, acting as a catalyst for thousands of safety conversations and activities UK-wide.

We help families build confidence and skills in managing the real risks to children’s safety.

We want all children to have the freedom to grow and learn, safe from serious harm."

What a busy day!

Firstly we joined the Wriggle and Rhyme playgroup - we will definitely be back! We had so much fun as you can see! I read a beautiful story called "What colour is love?" to my Sunshines. Then we visited costa for refreshments and treats, then off to the monkey playarea and followed the animal trail leading us to the activity room at lakeside. Then to finish off, when we was all done having fun, we had lunch at Morrisons cafe.

The kids and myself will sleep well tonight 🀣

See more tomorrow for this weeks theme...

πŸšΈπŸ›‘πŸš¦ROAD SAFETY πŸš¦πŸ›‘πŸšΈ

Making prevention possible

Reasons road safety matter-
β€’Life saving protection for the future
β€’Creating independence on learning how to cross the roads safely
β€’Early intervention on road behaviour
β€’Learning how to cross pedestrian crossing and other crossing

My sunshines are fully aware of road safety, before and after school we walk hand in hand and together. We stop look and listen, helping one another safely.
