🌍❄️ Exploring Hot and Cold Places! ❄️🌍

Year 1 and 2 are continuing to explore hot and cold places around the world in Geography! 🌎

This week, they have been travelling to the Arctic and Antarctic, using atlases to locate these icy parts of the world and learning about the key features that can be found there. 🧊🐧🐻‍❄️

The children then put their map skills to work, drawing their own maps and including some of the important features they discovered. 🗺️✏️

Lots of fantastic exploring, map work and geographical thinking from our young geographers! 🌍👏

🍂🌾 Harvest Festival 🌾🍂

A reminder that our Harvest Festival performance is on Thursday 15th October at 9:30am in the school hall. 🎶🍎

As part of our Harvest celebrations, we are also collecting donations for Bassetlaw Foodbank. 🥫❤️ If you are able to donate, please bring any suitable long-life food items or sanitary products into school over the coming weeks. Every donation, big or small, will be gratefully received and will help support local families in our community.

💪🔬 Science in Year 3 & 4!🔬💪

Year 3 and 4 have been busy learning all about muscles and joints in Science. The children have been exploring how our bodies move and how muscles and joints work together to help us bend, stretch and move. 🦴💪

To bring their learning to life, the children created their own working models to demonstrate how muscles and joints work together. It was fantastic to see them putting their scientific knowledge into practice and using their models to explain what happens inside our bodies when we move!

A brilliant example of hands-on learning and scientific thinking. 🌟👏

🌿🎨 Rainforest Art in Sycamore Class! 🎨🌿

Sycamore Class have been busy creating some fantastic rainforest-inspired artwork, taking inspiration from the vibrant and imaginative paintings of Henri Rousseau.

Our focus was on the theme of ‘camouflage’. The children explored how animals can blend into their surroundings and used this idea to create their own colourful rainforest scenes. 🐆🌴🦜

It has been wonderful to see their creativity come to life, from the initial ideas and careful painting to the fantastic finished pieces. We think you’ll agree that their artwork is full of colour, detail and imagination! 🌺🐍

🏃‍♂️⚽ Thursdays with Coach Mo! ⚽🏃‍♀️

Thursdays are always a busy day at Walkeringham thanks to our fantastic Coach Mo! 🙌

Coach Mo works with children across the whole school, delivering PE sessions with classes and individual groups, helping everyone develop their skills, confidence and teamwork. 💪⭐

But the fun doesn’t stop there! 🎉 At break time, Coach Mo gets everyone involved in playground games, and after school he even runs our PE after-school club!🏃‍♀️🏀⚽

And there’s even more excitement coming up! 🏆🎉 Coach Mo will be leading us in the remote PE competitions over the coming months. After winning the trophy last year with an amazing score, the children can’t wait to get competing again! 🥇👏

We’re ready to get active, have fun and hopefully defend our trophy! 🏆💪🎉

🌿🐛 Forest School Friday! 🐛🌿

On Friday, our Nursery and Reception children had a wonderful afternoon of outdoor adventures! 🌳✨

They were busy exploring our outdoor areas, discovering what nature has to offer and enjoying some fantastic hands-on learning.

🐞 The children have taken part in a bug hunt and became nature detectives!
📏 They explored outdoor maths, using the vocabulary longer and shorter to compare objects.
👣 They also took part in a wonderful sensory walk with bare feet, feeling and talking about the different textures beneath their toes!

So much exploring, learning, investigating and, of course, lots of fun! 🌱💚🌳🦋🌈

The paint has dried and our amazing Colour Party paint throw picture is ready! 🖌️✨

A huge thank you once again to our wonderful PTA for organising such a brilliant Colour Party. The children (and Mr Scoffield! 😂) had an unforgettable time getting covered in colour and creating lots of happy memories! 💛💙💚🩷

We absolutely LOVE the finished picture and can’t wait to hang it proudly in the school hall for everyone to enjoy! 🥰🎨🏫

Gardening club have been busy with Mr Harrison! 👩‍🌾👨‍🌾🌻

The children have been busy watering their leeks and planting beans 🌱🫘. They are learning all about caring for plants and watching how they grow.

We can’t wait to see how our plants progress over the coming weeks! 🌱✨ We have some budding gardeners on our hands! 👩‍🌾🌻💚
