A New Chapter for the Holly Grove Family ❤️

We are incredibly excited to share some very special news with our Holly Grove families and our wider community.

In June 2027, we will be opening a brand-new, purpose-built early years setting on Cammidge Way in Bessacarr. This is a really exciting next chapter for us, and we can’t wait to create a beautiful new environment where children can learn, grow and thrive.

With this exciting development, sadly, it also means that we will be closing our smallest setting, Holly Grove on St Wilfrid’s Road. Changes to government regulations on childcare on domestic premises registrations is making it increasingly difficult for us to sustain this type of home based provision.

Holly Grove holds a very special place in my heart. It is where the Holly Grove family of settings began, and over the years it has been filled with so many wonderful children, families, memories and friendships. Saying goodbye to the setting will undoubtedly be emotional, and it truly feels like the end of an era.

We want to reassure our Holly Grove families that families currently based at Holly Grove will be given priority for places at any of our other settings. We will work closely with you throughout this transition to make it as smooth and reassuring as possible for both you and your children.

Our new Bessacarr setting will continue everything that is at the heart of Holly Grove: a home-from-home environment, where children are nurtured, valued and supported as individuals, with their needs, wellbeing and development at the centre of everything we do.

We are so excited for the next part of our adventure and for the opportunity to continue providing high-quality childcare for the families in our community in a brand-new purpose-built environment.

Most importantly, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to every family who has trusted us to care for your children. It is a privilege that we never take for granted, and we are incredibly grateful to have been part of so many children’s early years journeys.

Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the chapter we’re closing, and the exciting new chapter that lies ahead. ❤️

Maths champion programme
On April 1st HollyGrove became inducted on the NDNA maths champion programme. The programme is a 12 month online training course to give our educators a deeper understanding of how children develop maths skills and knowledge. Our staff based with our 2,3 and 4 year olds will be actively involved in the programme under the guidance of Lisa ( maths champion lead), completing audits of the learning environment to regularly review the resources, learning Environment and the mathematical language we use within our activities and learning opportunities. We will provide core activities to develop knowledge and understanding of numbers, shapes, quantities, positions, direction and weight and record observations of children within each age group at the beginning, during and at the end of the programme to measure progress of maths knowledge and skills. Our staff will also complete training to gain more knowledge of the wider areas of maths development within the early years. We will post ideas of activities on our pages which can be adapted and provided at home as well as songs, rhymes and stories to develop maths skills.
