Nellie Stagles School of Dance

Still to this day, the Nellie Stagles School of Dance remains one of the largest and most successful schools in South Yorkshire.

“Nellie Stagles” is almost an institution and we have been part of the Towns cultural life since December 1936, when at the tender age of 17 Miss Stagles opened her dancing school. A young and slightly nervous Nellie opened the doors of her school in January 1937, at the Empire Ballroom, Hexthorpe.
