Good Morning!
We are staying with Stone Age season, but it's a local one for me.
I absolutely LOVE getting up before dawn to reach the far flung corners of the region, but today I don't have to, as I am 5 minutes away from home. Lie in! Thank you for the invitation Branton St Wilfrid's CE Primary School.

First workshop of the year today! It's an early start for me as I head to Waltham in North Lincs. It's lovely to be welcomed back year after year to lead our 'So You Want2B in the Stone Age?' workshop.

It's that time of year!
September to November seems to be very popular for Stone Age projects. I'm preparing these role play coprolites for my first workshops of the new academic year this week.
Because I strongly believe in "Hands On", we handle genuine archaeological coprolite, discuss it's uses, then role play the job of the archaeologist with our gloves on and our "Specimen Kits." These 'coprolite' are not fossilised p**p, but salt dough with hidden seeds. (But I don't let the class know until after!)

So, while the children are all getting settled into new classes with new routines, the preparations continue at Want2B H...

So, while the children are all getting settled into new classes with new routines, the preparations continue at Want2B HQ...
Today, making daub. Daub is the sticky substance that neolithic builders would have covered their wooden frame houses with. At Want2B Workshops it is mud and hay. In neolithic times it may have also included hair and 💩. Tag a teacher whose class would like to get daubing the Stone Age way!

Today's prep: Sifting for charcoal. I tried buying it, but bbq charcoal doesn't grind up nicely into powder to make pigm...

Today's prep:
Sifting for charcoal. I tried buying it, but bbq charcoal doesn't grind up nicely into powder to make pigment for Stone Age paint. So instead, I collect it from friends with log burners and sift out the bits. Sorted! Saves money too, so I can continue to provide value for money.

Saw this for sale, think I might buy it; the spear wheels might come in handy for my Boudicca phase 😆

"What do you do with ALL that time off in the holidays?"
I'm sure you've heard it from someone you know. I'm sure you have a well practised answer which touches on rest & recuperation, all those appointments you don't have time for in term time, and the amount of prep that's needed. I'm not much different. I've been to the Drs, for a blood test, opticians, read some books (nothing to do with History for a change!) and prepped, prepped, prepped!
