Hesley Group provides specialist residential care, supported living and further education for people with learning disabilities and intensive specialist support needs, many of whom are autistic. We aim to offer the best possible care, education and vocational opportunities for young people and adults, often with autism, who have a learning disability and complex care needs with behaviour that may challenge.

Our Final Tasty Tuesday at Meadow View 🍅🥕

This month, Tasty Tuesdays are making way for Flavoursome Fridays, with our first event being a Pumpkin Party on Friday 30th October! 🎃

To mark our final Tasty Tuesday, we made sure it was delizioso! Using tomatoes, runner beans, peas, courgettes, dwarf French beans and herbs grown on the Hive allotment, alongside gluten-free spaghetti, the soup was a wonderful way to showcase the fantastic produce grown by the people we support.

The dish was enjoyed by everyone and was a great celebration of the hard work, care and dedication that goes into maintaining the allotment throughout the year. 🌱

Recently, a person we support at Low Laithes enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Llandudno, Wales, accompanied by his dedicated support team.

The holiday was carefully planned around his individual wishes, preferences and support needs, ensuring he felt comfortable, safe and fully involved in making choices about his trip. From exploring the beautiful seaside town to enjoying meaningful activities and taking in the coastal surroundings, the holiday provided plenty of opportunities to relax, have fun and create lasting memories.

At Hesley Group, we believe that supporting people to achieve their personal goals and enjoy new experiences is an important part of living a fulfilling and meaningful life.

We're looking for a Cook to join our dedicated team at Meadow View in Doncaster, where you'll play a key role in creating high-quality meals and enjoyable dining experiences for the people we support. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a caring, supportive environment.

✅ 24 hours per week
✅ £13.70 per hour
✅ 4-week rolling rota
✅ Shifts between 8:00am-4:30pm and 10:00am-6:30pm

We're looking for someone who is reliable, organised and passionate about delivering a great service. Ideally, you'll have experience in a similar role and hold a Level 2 qualification in Catering, Hospitality or Food Preparation.

🌳🚶‍♂️ A fantastic day out at Clumber Park

One of the people we support recently enjoyed a wonderful day exploring the beautiful scenery, taking in the sights, and making the most of the great outdoors. A real highlight of the day was completing an impressive 6.95 km walk. 👏

The trip provided a great opportunity to stay active, enjoy nature, and spend time in the local community. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, engagement, and enjoyment throughout the day.

🎉 We're delighted to share that this week, Low Laithes achieved the 'Be Well at Work' Bronze Award!

Presented by Barnsley Council, this award recognises our ongoing commitment to promoting a healthy workplace, supporting colleague wellbeing, reducing absenteeism, and enhancing performance across our service.

To achieve the award, Low Laithes demonstrated its commitment across six key areas: Human Resources, Health & Safety, Absence Management, Consultation & Communication, Training & Development, and Health Campaigns. Over a 12-month period, evidence was submitted, colleagues completed questionnaires, and team members took part in focus groups to help showcase the positive wellbeing culture we have built together.

This achievement has truly been a team effort, with colleagues from all departments contributing towards the award. To celebrate, we came together to enjoy coffee, cupcakes, and recognise everyone's hard work and dedication.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in helping us create a workplace where wellbeing matters. 💙

Black History Month at Hesley Group

This month, we celebrate the achievements, stories and contributions of Black people, past and present. We also want to recognise our Black colleagues and the Black people we support, who are an important part of life at Hesley every day.

Black History Month is an opportunity for all of us to listen, learn and reflect. It reminds us that feeling respected and able to be yourself matters in the places where you live, learn and work.

We want Hesley to be a place where our Black colleagues and the Black people we support feel heard, valued and able to thrive. That commitment matters throughout the year, and it depends on how we treat one another every day.

King Street Macmillan Coffee Morning Success

On Friday 25 September, King Street hosted its annual , organised and run this year by Hayley, Service Administrator, and Stacie.

The event was a huge success, raising an incredible £160.50 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This achievement would not have been possible without the wonderful baked goods kindly made and donated by our amazing staff team and the individuals who live at King Street.

This year, we chose to focus our fundraising efforts on Esophageal Cancer, following a nomination from a colleague. They shared that the Macmillan nurses who supported their loved one throughout their journey with the disease were nothing short of amazing, providing outstanding care, support and compassion during such a difficult time. It was therefore especially meaningful to raise funds in recognition of the incredible work that Macmillan Cancer Support continues to do for individuals and families affected by cancer.

There was a fantastic selection of treats on offer, including cheesecakes, brownies, scones and even homemade cheese straws. The morning was filled with music, conversation and plenty of laughter, all enjoyed alongside a delicious cake and a warming cuppa.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, baked and helped make the event such a success. Together, we have raised valuable funds for an amazing charity, and we cannot wait to do it all again next year!
