🍁 This week at Paskals Day Nursery! 🍁

We’ve got another lovely autumn-filled week planned, with lots of opportunities for our children to explore, create, communicate and learn through play! 🧡

🌾 Make Your Own Scarecrow Tuff Tray
Children will use straw, natural materials and loose parts to create their own scarecrows, supporting fine motor skills, creativity, imaginative play and problem-solving. We’ll encourage lots of conversation as children decide what their scarecrow needs and how they would like it to look.

🍂 Making Our Own Autumn Playdough
We’ll work together to make our own autumn-themed playdough before using it in our play. Children will develop hand strength and coordination, explore textures, colours and changes in materials, and practise measuring, mixing and following a simple sequence.

📚 Books of the Month – Tree of Wonder & We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt
It’s our final week enjoying our two autumn books! Through stories, conversations and related activities, children will develop their listening and attention, vocabulary, understanding and confidence in sharing their own ideas.

🍃 Autumn Leaf Hunt
We’ll head outdoors to look for different leaves and signs of autumn. Children will explore the natural world, notice similarities and differences, use descriptive language and develop their curiosity and observation skills.

🏡 Continue the learning at home!
We’d love our families to get involved too! You could:

🍁 Go on your own autumn walk and see how many different coloured leaves you can find.
🔢 Count your leaves or sort them by size, colour or shape.
💬 Talk about how the leaves feel — are they smooth, crunchy, wet, dry, big or small?
🌳 Look for other signs of autumn and talk about how the trees and weather are changing.
📖 Share an autumn story together and ask your child what they can remember about it.

📸 We’d love to see what you get up to! Feel free to share your autumn adventures with us so your child can talk about them with their friends at nursery.

Don't forget that applications for nursery school places for 2027 will be closing on Tuesday 6 October 2026!

If you're applying for a school nursery place for your little one for the next academic year, make sure to complete your application and submit it by this date.

Nursery placement decisions will be sent to families on 6 November 2026

Our eClinic app allows parents/carers of babies and children under 5 years to book a 30 minute online live chat appointment using messaging on a phone or tablet.
