🗣 Here are a few questions that we are frequently asked about Doncaster Equine College and the courses we offer...
❓ How old do you have to be to undertake the Level 1 Horse Care course?
💬 You must be aged 16 or over.
❓ Are your courses residential?
💬 Our courses are non-residential, meaning you are required to organise your own transport to the college. A bus stop is located close to the college.
❓ Can I be a non-rider?
💬 Yes, absolutely! All our courses have a rider or non-rider option available.
❓ Can I bring my own horse for the duration of my course?
💬 Unfortunately we cannot accommodate learners' own horses.
❓ I've never ridden or been around horses, does that matter?
💬 Absolutely not! Our Level 1 Horse Care course is suitable for those who have little to no equine experience and is designed to give individuals a good standard of knowledge and skills in horse care. The natural progression is to enrol on the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Horse Care.
❓ Where is Doncaster Equine College located (DEC)?
💬 DEC is located on the grounds of the National Horseracing College, situated between Doncaster and Bawtry. Our address is The Stables, Rossington Hall, Great North Road, Doncaster, DN11 0HN

What is the difference between an 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 and a 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆?
During the year we hold different events to showcase what we offer here at Doncaster Equine College. A common question we get is what is the difference between our Open Afternoon and Taster Day events, as well as which event should you attend.
If possible, we recommend prospective learners attend both!
Our 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻𝘀 consist of a short introduction and a guided tour around the facilities here at DEC. We explain the different courses and training available and explain some of the many different career opportunities there are in the equestrian industry. You will get to meet and observe current learners going about their typical college day and meet some of the instructor team. There will also be an opportunity to have a go on our Dressage Simulator! Our Open Afternoons are open to prospective learners, parents, guardians, careers advisors and those interested in pursuing a career in the equestrian industry.
To attend an 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻, visit: https://www.doncasterequinecollege.co.uk/course/open-days/
𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 are designed to give prospective learners in Years 10 to 13 an experience of what it is like to study at DEC! These days are free to attend and you get to take part in practical activities with our fantastic horses. You also get a certificate of attendance for your school record.
