Another good day out at Valley Wildlife. Learning how to give medication to the skunk ๐ฆจ. Some of the students took the ponies for a walk, or should I say the ponies took the students for a walk ๐๐ to find some grass! ๐ด. And of course I had to show the picture Odin the racoon posing for his picture ๐ฆ. He secretly loves the camera ๐ธ.

Our Level 2 and 3 Animal Care students had a brilliant day at Valley Wildlife today. They started out with the daily husbandary routines where they cleaned the enclosures and fed the animals, then in the afternoon they carried out behaviour observations on the animals followed by practicing handling and restraining on the alpacas and llamas. Great work everyone! ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ

๐พ Thatโs a Wrap! ๐ช๐ธโจ
Some of our Animal Management students from Doncaster College and North Lindsey College have officially completed their work placement here in sunny Malaga!
Throughout the week, theyโve worked incredibly hard in the heat, gaining hands on experience at an equestrian centre and local veterinary hospitals. From caring for animals to supporting veterinary teams, theyโve shown real dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm every step of the way. ๐ด๐ถ๐ฑ
To round off an unforgettable week, the group enjoyed a well deserved afternoon of shopping and a relaxing trip to the beach in Malaga city. Soaking up the culture, sunshine and sea air. ๐๏ธ๐โ๏ธ
Tomorrow, we head back to (hopefully sunny!) England with lots of memories and new skills.
Huge well done to all the students, youโve done yourselves and the college proud! ๐โ๏ธ

From all of the our staff and students in the animal care department, we would like to share our condolences to Valley Wildlife on the loss of Crear.
We are truely saddened on hearing this news but also grateful for the amazing memories we have with her. She was an absolute legend! RIP beautiful lady, we will miss you ๐
It is with a heavy heart that we announce saying goodbye to our beautiful raccoon Crear. Unfortunately she had developed cancer and despite the best efforts of keepers and our vet team, she began to lose the battle.
On Monday we made the decision to euthanise her and ensure that she didnโt suffer any further.
Crear came to us ten years ago at just two days old - her eyes not even open yet. Andy our zoo director was the first face she saw when she opened her eyes and was there stroking her head as she took her last breath.
It is never easy to say goodbye to an animal in your care, especially when they have been a part of your life for so long. She was a pleasure to care for and brought a great deal of joy to many visitors over the years.
She will be desperately missed.
