Partnership Set to Benefit Region's Budding Apprentices

College and DETA 2000 (Doncaster Engineering Training Association) are pleased to announce that they are to be working in partnership to deliver engineering training programmes.

Engineering companies from across the region were invited to a breakfast event at the Doncaster College’s Waterfront Restraunt to launch the exciting new initiative.

DETA 2000 is an engineering training provider based in Doncaster and founded by Managing Director, Nigel Parkin in 1997. Over the last decade DETA has worked to build their reputation as a quality provider of engineering and related training across South Yorkshire.

Pat Meadows, Assistant Principal for External Partnerships & Employer Engagement at Doncaster College said: “The idea is to bring the strengths of both organisations together, the stability and robust quality systems of a further education college coupled with the flexibility and responsiveness of a smaller training provider.

“The strengths of both our organisations will help deliver clear benefits and advantages and have a positive impact on businesses in Doncaster and the surrounding areas.”

Business guests were treated to a buffet breakfast and then talks from Pat Meadows, and Mark Lilley from DETA 2000.

This was followed by a question and answer session, which dealt with some of the practicalities of the partnership venture and then a tour of the engineering facilities at the Hub, conducted by Danuta Wisniewski, Academy Director of Advanced Technologies at the College.

Guests were thrilled to be shown a fascinating demonstration of the College’s new state-of-the-art ‘virtual’ welding equipment, recently installed in the engineering department.

Also on hand were Fusedworks, Doncaster College’s 3D visualisation studio that develops stunning 3D interactive and pre-rendered applications. They were demonstrating their REACTOR project, which is a 3D interactive learning resource for construction skills.
