We’re delighted to welcome Dale Jeffrey to the TriDent Equine Dental Conference 2026, presenting:

“Equine Gnathology and the Meaning of Balance Through Range of Motion”

Dale will explore the fascinating relationship between equine dentistry, biomechanics and movement, covering:

🐴 The principles and meaning of equine gnathology
📖 Insights from his new book Equine Gnathology
🦷 Mastication patterns and accurately ageing the horse
⚖️ Balance through range of motion
👅 The hyoid apparatus and arthrosis
🐎 Bit interaction, bitting anomalies and bit seats
🧠 Biomechanics of the head and neck
🍽️ Deglutition and the axial flow of food
🦷 The relationship between the TMJ and incisor table angles

We’re delighted to welcome Neil Townsend MSc BVSc CertES (Soft Tissue) DipECVS DipEVDC (Equine) FRCVS to the TriDent Equine Dental Conference 2026.

Neil will be covering two fascinating and highly relevant topics:

🔹 Diagnosis & Management of Equine Periodontal Disease
Exploring equine diastemata, periodontal disease, clinical signs, diagnostic techniques, imaging including CT, treatment options and long-term management — with a focus on recognising disease early and preserving dental function and welfare.

🔹 Equine Unilateral Nasal Discharge – Is It Always Dental Related?
A look beyond dental disease at the different causes of unilateral nasal discharge, including sinusitis, fungal disease, cysts and neoplasia. Neil will discuss clinical examination, endoscopy, radiography, CT, sampling techniques and how to identify the underlying cause to guide appropriate treatment.

Expect practical clinical knowledge, diagnostic insights and challenging cases that will be highly relevant to anyone involved in equine dentistry and veterinary care.

Equine dentistry has evolved dramatically over the past 25 years, with new knowledge, techniques and instruments changing the way we approach our patients.

Bernadette will share practical advice for everyday dentistry, including:
