๐พ DOG FIRST AID ๐พ
I recently completed a Pediatric first aid course to update my skills/knowledge, I also needed to do the same for the dogs so attended Dog first aid South Yorkshire, and it's the best animal first aid course I've been to.
Definitely recommend ๐
Yesterday I delivered a course in Netherton, Wakefield.
A fantastic group of 19 pet professionals and pet owners (some were a little camera shy ๐ซฃ).
And for those that chose to refresh your training with me, thank you it really does make me do a happy dance ๐ฅฐ๐.
Well done to all ๐
I have a busy week, this week with 2 staff training and a my first course for West Yorkshire Police dog licencing officers.

Marine biologists have uncovered a fascinating and somewhat humorous behavior among octopuses, revealing that these highly intelligent creatures sometimes punch fish for no apparent reason.
According to scientific observations, this behavior isn't always tied to hunting or competition for food; instead, it appears that octopuses randomly slap fish out of pure spite or sheer boredom. This discovery highlights the complex cognitive abilities and individual personalities of octopuses, showing that they can exhibit moods and social behaviors that go beyond simple survival instincts.
Research involving underwater footage has captured numerous instances where an octopus, while hunting alongside a group of fish, will suddenly use one of its tentacles to deliver a swift blow to a nearby fish. While scientists speculate that some of these "slaps" might be a way to manage the fish's movement or maintain dominance during a collective hunt, many incidents seem entirely random and unnecessary.
This quirky interaction in the deep blue sea provides a unique glimpse into the sophisticated and sometimes grumpy nature of one of the ocean's most mysterious inhabitants, proving that even in the wild, social interactions can be quite unpredictable.

๐ข ๐ข OLDEST IN THE WORLD ๐ข ๐ข
Jonathan is the worldโs oldest known living land animal, a giant tortoise estimated to be around 192 years old. Born in the early 1830s, Jonathan has lived through the Industrial Revolution, two World Wars, and the rise of the modern world, all while remaining on the remote island of Saint Helena, where he resides today. Despite his age, he continues to eat, rest in the sun, and move slowly through his enclosure, cared for by veterinarians and conservationists. Though he has lost his sense of smell and most of his eyesight, Jonathanโs long life stands as a remarkable example of longevity in the animal kingdom and a living link to nearly two centuries of history.

They might look alike at first glance, but every big cat species is a masterpiece shaped by millions of years of evolution.โ
From body structure to hunting tactics, each one is designed to dominate a different environment on Earth.โ
๐
Tiger ๐
The worldโs largest cat, powerful and imposing.โ
Its stripes help it blend perfectly into forests and tall vegetation.โ
A solitary, territorial hunter spread across Asian jungles and wetlands.โ
๐ฆ Lion ๐ฆ
The only big cat that truly lives in social groups called prides.โ
Males wear a mane that shows off their health, power, and rank.โ
Lives on the African savannas and relies on cooperation to bring down big prey.โ
๐ Jaguar ๐
Stocky, muscular, and incredibly strong for its size.โ
Recognizable by its rosettes with a dot in the center.โ
The silent monarch of Central and South America, a swimmer, climber, and skullโcrushing predator with one of the most powerful bites among big cats.โ
๐ Leopard ๐
Graceful, secretive, and one of the most adaptable felines.โ
Found in both Africa and Asia, from steamy jungles to rugged mountains.โ
Often hauls its kills into trees, away from hyenas and other scavengers.โ
๐พ Cheetah ๐พ
Engineered for pure speed, not for wrestling matches.โ
Holds the title of fastest land animal on the planet.โ
Dark facial markings act like natural โsunglasses,โ reducing glare while it scans the open plains.โ
Prefers to hunt in daylight using sudden, explosive sprints.โ
๐ฑ Puma ๐ฑ
Also called cougar or mountain lion, with a sleek, uniform coat.โ
One of the most adaptable predators, ranging from Canadian forests to Patagonian landscapes.โ
A solitary, quiet stalker known for its efficiency and versatility.โ
โ๏ธ Snow Leopard โ๏ธ
Nicknamed the mountain ghost because it is so rarely seen.โ
Thick fur, wide paws, and a long tail help it survive freezing temperatures and steep cliffs.โ
Lives high in the cold mountains of Central Asia, one of the most challenging environments any cat can endure.โ
๐ฆ White Lion ๐ฆ
Its pale coat comes from a rare genetic mutation, not albinism.โ
Mostly found in limited regions of southern Africa or in managed reserves.โ
A striking reminder of how diverse and unpredictable natureโs genetics can be.โ
In nature, there are no duplicates.โ
Each of these big cats plays a crucial role in keeping ecosystems balanced, controlling prey numbers, and protecting the overall health of the environment.โ
