🚗 A very exciting project is underway at GTA...

Our apprentices are currently transforming an old Citroën C1 into a hot rod-style car inspired by Grease for a local production.

This project is giving learners the chance to develop and showcase a wide range of industry skills, including welding, fabrication, filler work, MET, panel alignment, and paint preparation.

It is a fantastic hands-on opportunity for our apprentices to apply what they are learning in a real project and see a vehicle transformation take shape step by step.

We are looking forward to sharing the progress along the way — keep an eye out for more updates as the build continues. 👀

🏆 What a day at the WorldSkills National Qualifiers!

On 22nd May, two of our Vehicle Damage Paint Technician apprentices — Mason Clarke and Harvey Gilberthorpe — represented GTA at the WorldSkills national qualifying event, competing against some of the best young talent in the country. Just getting to this stage is a serious achievement, and both lads should be incredibly proud of what they've done to get there.

A massive congratulations to Mason, who finished 2nd, hoping he will progress to the National Finals once all the results have come through. 🙌

A big thank you also to GTA Bodyshop Tutor John Pearson, who made the trip to be there on the day and support both lads. That kind of backing means everything.

Well done to you all — it's been a privilege to watch you represent GTA at this level. 👏

🎨 A great showcase of skill from three of our paint apprentices!

Leo, Emma and Harrison — all training on the IMI Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician standard — have hand-designed and painted these wings from scratch, using fine line masking and multiple layers of paint to build up the detail.

It's an exercise we really value at GTA, because it pulls together so many of the core skills they need to practise on their course — preparation, masking, colour layering, patience and precision, all in one piece of work.

Brilliant effort, all three. 👏

🚗 Driving habits in focus this week at GTA!

A huge thank you to the team at Drive for Life, who have been in all week delivering their road safety sessions to our apprentices.

The sessions covered safe driving habits, the real-world risks behind the wheel, and the choices that can make all the difference — vital messages for a group of young people who spend a lot of their working lives in and around vehicles.

As a motor trade training provider, road safety isn't just a topic for us — it's part of the responsibility that comes with the job. We're really grateful to Drive for Life, and to Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council for funding the programme, for giving our apprentices the time, the facts and the space to think it through.

Drive safe, lads and lasses. ✨

🏁 The chequered flag is in sight!

Massive good luck to two of our Light Vehicle apprentices, David Jennings and Jack Slater, who are heading into their End Point Assessment this week.

Years of early starts, late finishes and serious graft in the workshop have brought them to this moment. Both have shown real commitment throughout their apprenticeship and we know they're more than ready.

Go and smash it, gents — we're cheering you on! 🔧🚗💨
