High Melton Day Nursery is a relatively new setting near Sprotbrough located in the scenic village of High Melton with a woodland surrounding. We have our own private mini-woodland as part of our setting's outdoor space which we use as a core part of our learning.

Our employee of the month for April 2026 is Janet!

Janet works across all three of our nurseries, effortlessly adapting to each unique environment and consistently giving her all. Over the past month, she has taken on extra hours and is always ready to go at a moments notice. Janet is a reliable support for the staff and children, keeping everyone smiling and motivated. This month she has focused on assembling a collection of objects for the children to explore, helping them to learn exciting new vocabulary and building anticipation among our Oaks children. We truly appreciate her support across the nurseries and couldn’t be without her!

Today Cheri, our nursery cook, has been planting potatoes with some of our Oaks children.
Cheri discussed the sprouts that had grown out of the potato and how shrivelled some of the wrapped up potatoes had become.

The children helped to pour the compost into the bucket and to water the soil. 🌱 🥔

🪺 Egg Rolling 🪺

The children in Oaks have been enjoying the lovely Easter sunshine while taking part in an egg rolling competition!
They set personal targets for how far they thought their eggs would roll down the hill and were thrilled to find out whose egg went the furthest. What a wonderful experience!

Our employee of the month for March 2026 is Sophia!

Sophia has made significant strides in her practice, contributing positively across all areas of the nursery. She eagerly lends a helping hand and adjusts smoothly to new routines. Sophia offers engaging and educational experiences which enrich the children’s vocabulary. She’s also making excellent progress with her apprenticeship assignments and enhancing her skills through additional training courses. We really appreciate her hard work and dedication!

An ‘Egg-citing’ Egg Hunt!

🧁 🐣 🍫 Easter Baking! 🍫 🐣 🧁

The Acorns children have been busy making some delicious Easter treats today! They mixed shedded wheat with melted chocolate, which helped to enhance their gross motor skills as well as spooning the tasty mixture into cake cases.

Delicious!

Today, some of our older children have been on a walk up to The Stables.

We had fun searching for numbers and print in our surroundings and it was such a thrill to spot the number 5 on the speed signs!
The staff did a great job role modelling road safety , encouraging the children to stop, look and listen for vehicles before crossing a road.
We visited No. 16 cafe, took a look at the menu together and made sure to say “Thank you” to the adults there.
Splashing in puddles we found was a must too!

Easter preparations are in full swing here at High Melton and will continue all week as we get ready for the long weekend.

The children will enjoy a delightful egg hunt outdoors alongside creating some special crafts to take home. 🩵

World Book Week at High Melton! 📖 📕

What a superb week we’ve had celebrating World Book Day 2026! The grown ups have loved dressing up and sharing their favourite stories just as much as our little ones. It’s been lovely seeing our little ones imaginations grow through the power of stories. ❤️
