Alpha vs Beta males.
Most people when they hear the phrase or term Alpha male, immediately think of some musclebound self centred egotistical jerk who kicks sand in some guys face in order to assert his macho image right!.
WRONG!
This is a total misrepresentation of what being "ALPHA" is all about. The type of guy who fits into the above category is more like the typical BETA male, in other words an alpha male wannabe. True Alpha males do not possess these traits and will go to great lengths to distance themselves from these types.

NOTHING TO PROVE.
Alpha males live their lives on their own terms and do not care what people think of them. Have you ever been in a bar or club where there are lots of beautiful attractive girls around? A true alpha will sit back and observe whilst all the other guys are swarming and vying for the attention of the prettiest girl in the club, only to get shot down in flames along with their fragile egos. The alpha male then makes his move and confidently strides over and cements his status and walks off the the beautiful girl whilst the other guys make a move on every other girl.
You may be surprised to know that not every Alpha male is a six foot plus tanned muscular body builder. Most of us are just ordinary guys but we possess certain traits that other guys do not. The main trait is an unshakeable belief in our self worth and exude self confidence. A lot of people mistake this attitude as arrogance but really its just an ibuilt desire to be the best we can be.
