Changes to driving test booking happening today. ⚠️
From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.
This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:
📅 31 March — test changes limited to 2 per booking
🔒 12 May — only learners can book, change or cancel their own test
📍 9 June — test moves limited to 3 nearest centres
Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

NEWS: Crackdown on electric scooters across South Yorkshire
Roads policing officers’ efforts will today (6 June) be focussed on the illegal and misuse of electric scooters across South Yorkshire.
E-scooters are becoming a fast-growing way of people travelling around, but when they are used illegally and irresponsibly, they pose a real danger to those riding them and pedestrians and drivers.
Officers will be supported by neighbourhoods policing colleagues enforcing against illegal and dangerous users and creating safer streets for everyone.
📣Leading the work on the operation, sergeant Martyn Micklethwaite from the roads policing group said: “We are seeing more collisions, more injuries and more lives being put at risk by electric scooters.
“The law is clear- privately owned scooters cannot be used on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes or any other public space. They can only be used on private land, with permission.
“Despite these laws, we are continuing to see widespread misuse, including people travelling at speed in pedestrian areas, riding without lights or safety equipment and children riding unsupervised.
“During our operation, we will be focussing on enforcement and education; we want to prevent injuries, not just enforce the law. We understand that people may buy these machines without understanding the law, and education is a key part of our work, however where riders chose to ignore the rules, we will take action.
“We sadly see the consequences of collisions and the devastation they can cause, and we make no apologies for our priority being keeping people safe.”
❓Why is this the law?
Electric scooters are classed as powered transporters and fall within the definition of a motor vehicle under the Road Traffic Act 1998. This means that the same rules apply to electric scooters that apply to other vehicles, including licensing, insurance, MOT and tax.
If you see our officers out and about please feel free to speak to them about any concerns you may have.

🚨From 9 June, learner drivers will only be able to move their driving test to nearby test centres.
If you book a new test from this date, you will only be able to move your test to:
✅ any of the 3 centres nearest to where your test is booked
✅ the test centre you first booked at on that current booking
If you have an existing booking, the new rule will apply to where your test is booked at on 9 June – not where you first booked.

Do you know what to look for when choosing a driving instructor?
🚗 Approved driving instructors (ADIs) and trainee driving instructors must display a certificate in the windscreen of their vehicle when they are providing paid instruction.
They display:
🟢 a green certificate if they’re a fully qualified driving instructor
🩷 a pink certificate if they’re a trainee and are going through the qualification process

📆It's been a week since the rules changed meaning that only learner drivers can book car driving tests.
✅We’ve made this change to help make the booking process fairer and give more genuine learners access to tests.
📍From 9 June 2026, learners will only be able to move their booked test to nearby centres.
By changing who can book car and change driving tests, we’re aiming to reduce the re-selling of driving tests, giving the power back to learners 💪
