Art Avenue CIC fantastic news

Working with Hatfield Main Heritage trust and the pit club and taking up a proposal by Stan Bowman.

Over the last few months we have been compiling a list of men that died due to industrial accidents at Hatfield Main Colliery - the initial idea to produce a lasting memorial to these men and boys hit problems finding a comprehensive list but work has been ongoing and with thanks to Stans family Algi Liutkevicus and members of the Trust we’ve now been able to put together a updated list of over 80 fatalities -

Art Avenue has secured a grant to be able to further a new mural to be on the pit club wall as part of the memorial garden

Based on a miners banner the design will include these names the banner design still not finished or ready for print yet but gives a good indication of the aims of the the design outcome

Also I’m please to say we have got local talent Grace cooke & Macie Mckone helping paint our design which will be situation either side of the name.
