After 34 years of dedicated service, it is time for us to say goodbye to Lana as she begins her well-earned retirement.

Known for her cheerful nature and wonderful sense of humour, she has made a lasting impact on countless children, families and colleagues.

Her deep commitment to supporting children and families has helped shape our school for the better. She has always gone above and beyond, demonstrating kindness, understanding and unwavering dedication throughout her career.

It has been a privilege to have Lana as part of our school family. We thank her for her years of service, dedication and friendship, and we wish her a long, happy and healthy retirement.

A creative end to the term! ✏️ 🎨

Our residents enjoyed designing self-portraits before the summer holidays. We loved seeing their artistic side shine through!🙂

Dickson House strikes again! Our residents had a fantastic time back at football training, enjoying every minute on the pitch throughout the session.🙌 ⚽

One of our pupils, Emily, had the privilege to meet HRH Princess Anne at Hull Deaf Centre on 19th June 2026 to commemorate their Centenary. 🎉

As a trustee, Emily's mum was invited along with Emily and her brother Hugo. Emily presented HRH Princess Anne with some flowers.💐

Recently, our Dickson House residents enjoyed a camping adventure in the garden, spending time together and making the most of the outdoors complete with a water fight.🙂 ⛺

Our Dickson House residents had a great time riding their bikes and scooters, enjoying making memories together.🚲🛴

They then took a well deserved rest in the hammocks.🙂

Key Stage 2 pupils had a fantastic trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, to find inspiration to write some animal poems in English lessons.

Our favourites included the capybaras, tiger, giant otters, and an adorable baby monkey hitching a ride on its mother’s back! 🐯🐵✨

🎉✨ Recently, we celebrated an exciting new chapter for our school and Dickson House with a staff launch party following our rebrand.

It was wonderful to bring everyone together to mark this milestone, with staff and Dickson House residents enjoying a delicious buffet, great company, and receiving some fantastic branded goodies to commemorate the occasion.

A rebrand is about more than just a new name and look. It's about celebrating who we are, our shared values, and our vision for the future.

Thank you to all our amazing staff for making the event so special and for continuing to make Doncaster School for Deaf Children and Dickson House such a great places to learn and work. 💙

Ralfs has been a weekly resident at Dickson House for the past eight years. As he now leaves us for pastures new, we would like to thank him for being such a valued part of Dickson House.

We wish him all the very best for the future and hope he comes back to visit us soon.🥺 👋

Today, we came together for our 2026 School Prize Day to celebrate another fantastic year of achievement, growth and success, while also saying a heartfelt goodbye to our Year 11 leavers and several much-loved members of staff.

The afternoon was filled with memorable moments, including fantastic signed song performances from both our Primary and Secondary pupils, inspiring presentations from our leavers, and heartfelt reflection speeches from two of our pupils.

We were also delighted to welcome back former pupil Adam Bassett, who shared his memories of school, spoke about his journey since leaving, and even showed us a video of a recent challenge he completed to raise money for the school.

It was a truly special event, filled with pride, laughter, happy memories and a few tears. 💙

We are incredibly proud of everything our pupils have achieved.

To our Year 11 pupils, we wish you every success and happiness as you move on to college, sixth form and the next exciting chapter of your lives. 🎓
