We were pleased to welcome Hearing Dogs to school where we met Greta and her trainer, Joanne. Pupils learned about the important role hearing dogs play, including alterting individuals to everyday sounds such as fire alarms and doorbells. It was a really enjoyable and informative visit that highlighted how hearing dogs provide essential support and promote greater independence for deaf people. Last week pupils had a special assembly to learn about the importance of cold water safety. Simon Haycock from the Sam's Army charity came to talk to us about his son Sam who drowned in a local reservoir when he was only 16. Simon taught us about the dangers of swimming in open waters, how to stay out of trouble and what to do if you or someone else gets into trouble in open water. The pupils asked lots of questions and listened carefully to the advice given.

On Friday, we were visited by Miss Brown’s incredible pets, including a mini sand boa, a tarantula, vampire crabs, and a Pacman frog. She even brought along the famous Motley the parrot; who has had a photoshoot with Idris Elba! ✨

It was such a fun and memorable day for everyone. Thank you for sharing this amazing experience with us!πŸ™‚

To celebrate the start of the World Cup 2026 our lunchtime menu today was World Cup themed. Staff and pupils got into the World Cup spirit and came dressed in football kit, sportswear, or the colours of their favourite team!

We were delighted to welcome inspirational deaf swimmer Verity Green to our school. Verity shared her incredible journey, including becoming the first British deaf women to swim the English Channel solo and overcoming the challenges of Meniere's disease with determination and resilience. She also spoke about her fundraising work and recent success in ice swimming competitions. Pupils loved hearing her stories - especially about dolphins swimming around her - and they were excited to see and hold her medals. It was a truly inspiring visit for both pupils and staff.

Sports Day - wow, what a day! Pupils took part in a range of track and field events cheered on by their families, staff and school governors. Every pupil did so well, showing outstanding behaviour and sportsmanship throughout the morning. It was wonderful to end the event with some fun races including the egg and spoon race, and the three-legged-race involving family members, staff and siblings too. A massive thank you to all our amazing staff who worked so hard behind the scenes to ensure the day ran smoothly.
