Who remembers getting their shirt signed when they finished school? (Whatever year that may have been!)

I do and it feels not that long ago, even if it was.

Well today is my eldest sons last GCSE exam and final day at school 🥺

It’s a strange feeling sending him off with this so he can capture all of his friends names, knowing he’s ending his school career and moving onto new things after the summer.

He’s growing into a young man I am very proud of and I’m excited for to see what he does next.

On the flip side of this I’m also a bit anxious about the change in routine and how we navigate him being at home more.

I run my business from home, I have my routine, I like the quiet and peace of the home when the kids are at school and I like not having to think about anyone else being here, making a mess or interrupting me.

The additional mental load is what I mean, the distractions from someone else presence when I’m trying focus etc.

He’s also a bit worried about becoming ‘lazy’. I don’t think he will be, he’s active, likes to play basketball, has friends, he really is no bother and we get on well.

But, we are stepping into unknown territory as parent and young adult so if anyone who’s been there has any advice or words of wisdom, drop them below and help a mum out.

You will never guess what a man said to me today at a business showcase / networking event.

I have never met this man, and there is no shade on him but I think you’ll all appreciate the laugh.

Back story; unbeknown to me my photographer and friend Beki , thoughtfully messaged an organiser ahead of the event to make sure she could take photos without stepping on anyone’s toes etc. she mentioned that she was going with me, Bree Fox, and wanted to take some candid shots.

We’re at the event, I finish chatting to someone and see her talking to a man so go over, say hello and introduce myself..

Me: Hi I’m Bree
Him: Hi. He pauses then asks, Bree Fox?
Me: Yes (surprised and thinking oh no, where do I know him from)
Him: Do you want to hear a funny story
Me: Sure, is it funny at my expense or someone else’s?
Him: Probably yours

Now I’m really trying to figure out where I know him from or who we might have in common for a fun story to be told. He goes on telling me about the email he received, that I mentioned earlier..

Him: …so I’m thinking, well who’s Bree Fox? So I google you. Have you ever googled yourself?
Me: Yes
Him: Have you ever misspelled your name?
Me: No….
Him: Well I typed Bree Fox with two X’s

Me and Beki exchange looks and start asking lots of questions, laughing as we go, knowing where this was likely going.

- Have you figured out where’s it’s likely going yet? 👀

Him: Stop, let me finish. I googled your name with two X’s and “spicy site” comes up. I message my colleague and ask him if he knows who Bree Fox is and he doesn’t.

Me and Beki are howling.

This man then proceeds to show us an exchange of messages, including a google screen shot of Bree Foxx’s highly ranked spicy profile and both of them wondering which Bree Fox was going to show up to the event.

We’re both laughing so hard, my ribs hurt and she’s about to p*e herself (she is 6 months pregnant) at this whole exchange.

Better still, when walking around talking to people, anytime someone asked my name, we both laughed and had to re-tell the story.

First impressions last and this one was unforgettable.

So from now on, if you hear me introducing myself as Bree Fox, with one X not two, you’ll know why! 🙈

During a 1:1 day last week I used the analogy;

“when a plant doesn’t grow, we don’t blame the plant, we change the environment and it’s the same for people”.

Sometimes we need to mix things up to help shift that feeling, you know the one I mean.

The feeling of being stuck, unproductive, bored, uninspired, disconnected or just not really knowing where the time has gone in our day. They can all be signs that switching something up might be needed

It could be just going for a quick 5 minute walk out of the building, finding a coffee shop to go work in for the afternoon, shutting the laptop and writing something by hand for 10 minutes, sitting in a different seat, the options are endless.

Today I’ve brought myself out of the house to one of my favourites places (Highfield Coffee Social) to work so I didn’t get distracted and inevitably procrastinate or get into a sleepy slump after a really busy weekend that has left me super tired (more on that later).

So next time you’re feeling a bit “meh” and can’t figure out why, remember you’re just like a plant 🪴 and need to mix things up.

A little honest reminder about the Neurodivergent Strategy Day…

This was always designed to be a small-room experience.

I intentionally kept numbers low because I didn’t want this to feel like another overwhelming business event where you sit quietly, absorb loads of information and leave without actually moving forward.

The smaller group means:

- proper conversations
- individual support
- implementation time
- genuine connection
- space to actually think

Which also means once the seats are gone, that’s it.

I’ll also be finalising numbers soon for:

📘 workbooks
🍰 catering
🪑 seating
💻 attendee preparation
👛 goodie bags

So if you’ve been thinking about coming, this is your reminder not to leave it until the last minute.

If your brain has been needing structure, clarity and space to breathe, this room was created with you in mind.

Built Different: The Neurodivergent Strategy Day is for the woman who has a million ideas but struggles to turn them into consistent action.

The woman who is intelligent, capable and creative…
…but constantly feels behind.

The woman who has probably bought the courses, saved the posts, written the plans and still finds herself stuck in cycles of overwhelm and mental exhaustion.

The woman trying to run a business whilst also carrying the invisible mental load of life.

The woman who is tired of generic business advice that sounds great in theory but doesn’t actually work for her brain.

The Neurodivergent Strategy Day is designed differently on purpose.

💭 Smaller room.
💭 Real conversations.
💭 Implementation time.
💭 Neurodivergent-friendly structure.
💭 Practical strategy.
💭 No performative networking.

Just a room full of women building businesses in ways that actually work for them.

If you’ve been craving clarity, momentum and support from people who genuinely understand how your brain works, I’d love to have you in the room.

Ever accidentally spend FIVE hours researching something…
without eating, drinking, or noticing time passing?

That’s hyperfocus.

ADHD isn’t always a lack of attention.
Sometimes it’s difficulty REGULATING attention.

Which means neurodivergent people may struggle to focus on low-interest tasks but intensely lock onto highly stimulating ones.

Try this instead:
🔹 Use timers for breaks
🔹 Keep water/snacks nearby
🔹 Schedule recovery time after intense focus sessions
🔹 Use hyperfocus strategically when possible

Why it works:
Hyperfocus can be powerful but without boundaries it can also lead to burnout and neglecting basic needs.

The goal isn’t to remove hyperfocus. It’s learning to work WITH it safely.

Burnout From Masking is a different level of exhaustion.

Ever get told you “seem fine" while internally you feel completely empty of any and all energy?

A lot of neurodivergent people spend years masking.

Masking means consciously or unconsciously hiding traits in order to appear more socially acceptable.

That can include:
🔹 forcing eye contact
🔹 rehearsing conversations
🔹 copying social behaviour
🔹 suppressing stims
🔹 over-monitoring yourself constantly

The problem?

Masking is exhausting. Really, really, exhausting.

Try this instead:
🔹 Notice where you feel safest to unmask
🔹 Build recovery time after social situations
🔹 Reduce environments where you feel forced to perform constantly
🔹 Allow yourself supportive accommodations

Why it works:
Constant self-monitoring burns huge amounts of mental energy.

Burnout isn’t always caused by doing too much. Sometimes it’s caused by pretending too much.

You know that feeling when your brain has been carrying 47 tabs open at once for months?

That constant mental noise.
The unfinished ideas.
The pressure.
The “I know I’m capable of more than this” feeling.

That’s exactly why I created Built Different: The Neurodivergent Strategy Day.

🧠 Not to overload you with more information.
🧠 Not to leave you hyped for 24 hours and overwhelmed again by Monday.

But to give you something most neurodivergent business owners rarely get:

🧠 Space to think clearly.
🧠 Space to implement.
🧠 Space to be understood.
🧠 Space to work WITH your brain instead of against it.

I want the women who attend to leave feeling calmer, clearer and more grounded in their business.

Not perfect.
Not suddenly “fixed”.
Just no longer carrying everything alone in their head.

You’ll leave with practical strategy, clearer next steps, implementation time and real conversations with women who genuinely get it.

If your brain has been craving breathing room, this day was built for you.
