We have been asked to share the following on behalf The Children's Commissioner for England
Good morning,
As Children’s Commissioner, I am writing to ask you to ensure all of your children complete my new survey, The Big Future.
Under the Children Act 2004, it is my role to promote the views and interests of children in England, and I have done this so far by conducting the two largest ever children’s surveys: The Big Ask and The Big Ambition.
Now, for the first time, hundreds of thousands of children will be eligible to vote in the next general election, the biggest change to the franchise in half a century. Yet just one in five children say politicians listen to them. That’s why I’m launching my final survey, The Big Future.
Your students should complete the survey here:
https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/TheBigFuture/
I want to make sure that I hear from as many children as possible, aged 0-18, from all backgrounds, in all schools and colleges, and in every part of the country. To do that, I need your help.
I am asking children about the changes they want to see in their communities, their biggest concerns, and their hopes for the future. More than anything, I want to know what they think a good childhood should look like today.
I am asking you to share the survey with all the children, parents and carers in your school or college community. Schools and colleges that achieve high participation rates will receive formal recognition for their contribution to amplifying children’s voices and encouraging civic engagement, and a summary of their pupils’ responses.
To support you to do this, I have created a pack of resources which include an introductory video, a lesson plan, and FAQs, which are available on my website.
https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/
I would be grateful if you could ensure that every child in your school or college has taken part before the deadline of Friday 23 October.
I will be publishing my findings next year, and they will be used to advocate at the highest level for solutions that children want to see, to the problems that they tell me are most important to them.
Thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely,
Dame Rachel de Souza

Year 5 have been using the class iPads to order decimals. They considered the place value of each digit and its value before deciding on the correct order. Using their Kagan coaching skills, they supported and guided their shoulder partners throughout the activity.

Today, we were delighted to welcome Luke Staton to school. Luke is a motivational speaker and the author of CREDO, a powerful children's book that celebrates belief, resilience and courage.
Luke inspired our Key Stage 2 children with engaging stories and powerful messages about following their dreams. One memorable story was about him attending a football match at Wembley as a child, when his headteacher told him, "That could be you one day!" Years later, Luke fulfilled that dream and played at Wembley himself—a wonderful reminder that, with belief, determination and hard work, dreams really can come true.
His visit provided the perfect "hook" for our Year 6 Leavers' Event later this term, leaving pupils inspired and excited for the journey ahead.
Children have taken home an order form today for a signed copy of Luke's book, CREDO, which can be purchased through the school.
Thank you, Luke – we loved being your audience.

Year 2 have got off to a flying start this week, focusing on collaborative learning and building important team-building skills. Agreeing, building upon and challenging each other in a supportive way has helped them to achieve success in Maths and English tasks!

In Mr Anderson's Y6 maths group, we have been pattern seeking and checking mathematical predictions. Every time we add a block, how many different connections can we make where there is an interrupted connection from one end to another? This was a fantastic way to develop our mathematical thinking skills and the group did really well at identifying a relationship between the values and challenging each other's findngs.

The Y1s are busy with their DT vehicle projects.
They have worked with a partner to design a vehicle that uses four wheels. They have turned the boxes inside out to make painting them easier, as well as using non-standard measures to create the axle holes. They have worked with their partner to measure how long the dowel needed to be to go through the chassis and used a saw to cut the wood to the correct length. The wheels were tricky to turn onto the dowel, but they all managed it in the end. String was added to the axels to create a simple breaking system. Before half term they all gave their vehicle a base coat.
Next steps will be adding details to make the vehicles look like their designs.
3 lucky children will be selected to represent the school and show off the wonderful builds they have made.

Year 1 had the RSPCA visit today as part of their community project. The children learnt about what the RSPCA does to help and support animals. They also learnt about what an animal needs to stay safe and be healthy. The RSPCA were amazed at the collection of food that has been donated and wanted us to pass on a BIG thank you.
Thank you to everyone that donated to the Year 1 community project.
