Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the end of another wonderful school year, I wanted to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for your continued support throughout the year.

When I look back over the past twelve months, there is so much to celebrate. We have witnessed fantastic sporting achievements, impressive academic successes, and countless moments of personal growth. More importantly, we have made wonderful memories together as a school family. From special events and celebrations to everyday moments of learning and laughter, our children have continued to make us proud.

Our school is much more than a place of learning; it is a community, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a fabulous one. The support, encouragement and kindness shown by our families help to make OLMC the special place that it is.

A huge thank you must go to the Friends of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Their contribution to school life is simply incredible. Not only do they work tirelessly to raise valuable funds that benefit all of our children, but they also bring so much joy, fun and community spirit to our school. We are truly grateful for everything they do.

I would also like to thank our wonderful staff. Their dedication, care and commitment to the children never go unnoticed. They work incredibly hard every day to ensure that every child feels valued, supported and challenged to be the very best they can be. I am privileged to work alongside such a talented and caring team.

On a personal note, I would like to thank you for the support you have shown me during my second year as Headteacher. Leading OLMC is a privilege that I never take for granted, and being part of such a wonderful school family means so much to me. Your kindness, encouragement and trust are greatly appreciated, and I look forward to continuing our journey together in the years ahead.

As we say goodbye for the summer, we also say a special farewell to our Year 6 children. They have been a truly wonderful year group and exceptional ambassadors for our school. They have represented OLMC with pride, kindness and determination, and we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved. We wish them every success and happiness as they begin the next exciting chapter of their education. They will always remain part of the OLMC family.

I hope that the summer holidays provide everyone with an opportunity to rest, relax and enjoy precious family time together. Please stay safe, make lots of happy memories, and take time to recharge over the six-week break.

We look forward to welcoming you all back in September, refreshed and ready for another exciting year.

With sincere thanks and best wishes,

Mrs Philippa Martin

(Headteacher)

๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿš€ Year 5 Science Adventure! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ”ฌ

Today, our Year 5 pupils enjoyed an exciting visit to Outwood Academy Danum for a fantastic Science Day!

The children stepped inside an incredible immersive science dome, where they experienced the historic 1969 Moon Landing, following Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 crew on their unforgettable journey to the Moon. It was a truly memorable way to bring history and science to life!

They also had the opportunity to work in a real secondary school science laboratory, where they carried out a range of exciting experiments and investigations - including making their very own comet! The pupils showed fantastic curiosity, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day, asking thoughtful questions and embracing every challenge. Well done Year 5!

๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿงต Year 5 DT โ€“ Textiles: Stuffed Toys ๐Ÿงต๐ŸŒŠ

Today, our fantastic Year 5 pupils proudly completed their Design and Technology textiles project by creating their very own stuffed sea creature toys! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ ๐Ÿข

This exciting project linked to our Oceans topic and built on the learning from our recent visit to The Deep, where the children explored the incredible variety of marine life and developed a deeper understanding of our oceans.

Throughout the project, the children followed the full design process. They researched sea creatures, designed their own toys, carefully selected materials, practised and applied a range of sewing techniques, and evaluated their finished products. They showed fantastic creativity, resilience and attention to detail while developing valuable practical skills, including measuring, cutting, stitching and joining fabric safely and accurately.

We are incredibly proud of the childrenโ€™s hard work and determination. Their finished creations are unique, colourful and full of personality โ€“ a wonderful celebration of both their learning and their growing confidence in Design and Technology.

Well done, Year 5! ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘
