🍜 Chicken Ramen was a huge hit today!

Our Home Ed teen group worked really hard today. There were lots of steps to this recipe, but they handled every one of them amazingly.

Chopping, crushing, peeling, boiling, marinating… tick, tick, tick! ✅

There was plenty to do, lots of skills to practise and, most importantly, some very happy teen chefs at the end with a delicious bowl of homemade Chicken Ramen. 🥢🍜

Well done, everyone! You smashed it! 👏

👩‍🍳 A great class with our Junior Chefs at St Oswalds School on Monday! 🥧

We chopped, measured, mixed and taste-tested our way through some delicious ingredients to create our very own pies. 😋

As well as cooking, we learnt lots along the way — from talking about puff pastry and how it works, to using knives safely and discovering the effect mustard can have on the flavour of our finished dish.

Lots of hands-on cooking, plenty of learning and, of course, some very tasty results! ❤️

🍗 What’s on the menu this week, I hear you ask!

We’ve got 2 delicious dishes lined up… and 2 ways with chicken to keep our chefs busy.

🥧 Today in Finningley, our fist after‑school class of the week will be getting stuck into making Chicken & Veg Pies — lots of chopping, mixing and assembling, and a brilliant confidence‑builder for our young cooks.

🍜 Later in the week, our older Academy students will take on the many steps of a flavour-packed Chicken Ramen. From broth building to noodle prep, it’s a fantastic dish for developing skills and patience.

Looking forward to another tasty week with our Cook Star families.

🍂We've had a fantastic week with our Juniors this week. They've filled our halls, classrooms, and kitchen spaces with the aroma of Autumn.

Fresh baked apple French toast. 🍎

Imagine delicious buttered bread, cut into pieces, covered with an egg, milk and cinnamon batter, finished with grated apple. Then baked until golden brown. Simply beautiful cold in a packed lunch, or warm with ice cream or custard for dessert. 😋

🍄Mushroom Cooking Sessions

Join us at Potteric Carr nature reserve where, as part of Yorkshire Fungi Fest, we are having two special mushroom themed cooking classes for children on Saturday 10th October.

Morning session –

Come and create a fun, totally hands‑on Pizza Workshop with us! Every child will have their own workstation, equipment, and ingredients to craft their very own unique mushroom pizza — from making and shaping the dough to adding their favourite toppings.

Will you rise to the challenge and make yours mushroom‑shaped too? Let’s see those creative pizza skills come to life!

Afternoon session –

Or… would you prefer to whip up a creamy mushroom risotto instead? Each child will get to choose their own mushrooms before we begin, exploring different shapes, colours, and textures. Then we’ll cook step‑by‑step to create a delicious, comforting risotto for them to proudly take away.

A perfect mix of creativity, confidence‑building, and tasty fun.
