Music & Sound 🎶

We regularly set our wide selection of musical instruments and noise-making toys out for our children to explore, enabling them to get creative with sound, notes and volume whilst flexing their fine motor skills.

Natural World 🌍

We regularly bring natural elements like leaves, flowers, pine cones, mud, grasses, wood and branches into play, enabling children to explore their natural environments, variety of textures and smells and explore how their imaginations can bring these to life.

Chinese Dragon Boat Festival 🐉 🐲

Commemorating the poet Qu Yuan, children and their families joined as we paraded our dragon through the village, to the ford, where we released the dragon boats before heading back to the nursery for a Chinese feast in the garden.

Clay Time! 🏺

We had lots of fun making clay creations the other day, using googly eyes and other craft elements to make funny faces and shapes.

This was completely child led enabling them to make and mould whatever shapes they wanted - using hands, cutters and rollers to get those imaginations working and stretch their fine motor muscles.

Baggage collection is now available 🧳

Holbourn Airlines was officially open earlier this summer, bringing all the fun and joy of holidays to nursery - from booking your dream trip to full airport experience, including passport control and security.

The children were so engrossed in this imaginative role play with lots of real world experiences and memories of holidays to discuss.

Tray Play 💙

Messy play calls for the trays - with shaving foam, paint and mark making, experimenting with colour and water and fishing for bugs - we had a great time exploring texture and colour, and fine tuning those motor skills.

Miniature Trains 🚂

Throwback to May when our children and families visited Rainsbrook Valley Railway - RVR for lots of rides on the variety of trains on this miniature railway!

Farm Trip 🐓 🐐 🐄 🐖

A few weeks ago we visited ROOKERY OPEN FARM where children had the opportunity to meet a huge range of farm and domestic animals - including goats, donkeys, alpacas, guinea pigs, ducks and chickens - and explore the wealth of play options including miniature tractors, wooden train and the hide 'n' seek trail..

📚 Book of the Month: Owl Babies 📚

This book by Martin Waddell and Patrick Benson is beautifully illustrated and tells the story of three owlets learning about separation from their mum. The book deals with a range of emotions, enabling children to talk about their feelings, better understand the reasons for necessary separations whilst reinforcing the understanding that parents always come back.

At nursery, we bring this story to life with puppets and give children the opportunity to ask questions and explore their own experiences.

📚 Book of the Month: Pass the Jam, Jim 📚

This is a nursery favourite for its simple rhymes and action-packed illustrations - Jim gets distracted from passing the jam, chaos ensues!

A fun book for all ages; with laughter from older children who can spot the consequences early and lots of familiar things for younger children, all whilst the party gets stickier and messier!
