What a year we've had! Our children have achieved so much and we are really proud of them all. They have had some incredible experiences this year - from residentials to school trips, taking part in sporting competitions, pilgrimages, concerts and fundraising. The children have learned, made memories, played and had fun. We can't wait to see what September will bring.

Day 5 of National Sports Week at Dinton Primary School was sports day! We had a fantastic morning of races, from obstacle and egg and spoon races to sprints and relays. It was lovely to have such a large crowd cheering the children on, who despite the hot weather, showed great determination, courage and resilience.

For day 3 of National Sports Week we welcomed Paul Sturgess for a basketball workshop. Paul gave an inspirational talk to the children about his acting and basketball career and how to make the most out of being different. Paul played for the Harlem Globetrotters. Here he is teaching Archie some tricks and making our 6ft 3 inch headteacher look very small! ( see comments for photo)

We are celebrating National Sports Week, with a range of different sporting activities for the children to try, culminating with sports day on Friday morning.

On day 2, we welcomed sports leaders from Wyvern St Edmund's to Dinton Village Hall where the children had a great morning playing boccia, goalball, kurling, volleyball and parachute games.

A big thank you to all the helpers for making it so much fun, the children really enjoyed trying out some new sports.

🌊 We're really excited to announce our partnership with PH ActiveEd () to bring an innovative swimming programme onto our school playground. From late September all pupils will start or continue their swimming journey with a daily swimming lesson. We will have the pool on the playground for 3 weeks. Stay tuned for more details!

Eagles class have been learning about the damage fast fashion is causing our environment. They decided to hold a clothing sale to encourage people to consider buying second hand clothing, rather than buying new. They held two clothing sales after school and raised just under £100 for the JUST ONE Tree, an environmental charity that will plant a tree for every pound raised. A big thank you to those who donated clothing, and those who came and bought clothes. Well done Eagles!

Every child has helped create our new mosaics, cutting and placing tiles within our three designs. We would like to thank the mosaic artist, Joanna Dewfall for helping the children to create something really unique and beautiful for our school. Here you can see Joanna with some of our year 5 children and the 'Courage' mosaic, which will be mounted onto a wooden board, and grouted. We can't wait to see the mosaics displayed in the school hall.

This week the children have been working with an artist to create a mosaic for our school hall. Based on our school values of Courage, Service and Hope, the mosaic will complement the wooden eagle representing Wisdom created previously. The children have really enjoyed the creative process, choosing colours, cutting glass and ceramic tiles and gluing them in place. We can't wait to share the finished result with you when it is completed.
