💚 GCSE resits… it really isn’t the end of the world. 💚

As a mum myself, I know how much pressure our kids put on themselves on results day. When that little number on the paper isn’t the one they were hoping for, it can feel absolutely huge.

But it’s just a number today. It doesn’t have to be their number forever.

Sometimes they were only a mark or two away. Sometimes there are gaps going right back to the basics. And sometimes they actually do know the maths or English, but nerves and exam technique completely let them down on the day.

That’s where we can help. 💚

Our GCSE resit tuition is one-to-one, so there’s no embarrassment about asking something they think they “should already know”. We simply start where they are, work out what’s getting in the way and build from there.

No judgement. No comparing them to anybody else. Just lots of encouragement, cups of tea if needed 😂 and a plan to get them over that line.

So if results day hasn't quite gone the way you or your teenager hoped, please don't panic.

There is always another route and another chance. 💚

Drop me a message if you’d like a chat about GCSE resit support at The Learning Pad. ###

🎓💚 GCSE RESULTS DAY — LOOK AT THAT PROGRESS! 💚🎓

Today isn’t just about the final grade. It’s about how far each student has travelled to get there.

To protect our students’ identities, we’ve swapped names for emojis — but these are real Learning Pad students, real entry grades and their actual GCSE results. 🥹

🌻 Student 1
🧪 Science: 2/3 ➡️ 4/4
➗ Maths: 2 ➡️ 5

⭐ Student 2
💼 Business: 0 ➡️ 5
📖 English Language: 3 ➡️ 6
📚 English Literature: 4 ➡️ 5
🧪 Science: 2/2 ➡️ 5/5

🦋 Student 3
➗ Maths: 3 ➡️ 5
📖 English: 3 ➡️ 4
🧪 Science: 3/3 ➡️ 5/4

🌈 Student 4

🚀 Student 6
📖 English Language: 2 ➡️ 6
📚 English Literature: 3 ➡️ 6
➗ Maths: 3 ➡️ 6

💫 Student 7
⚗️ Chemistry: 3 ➡️ 7

Every single one of these students finished above their entry grade. 💚

Some needed a pass. Some wanted to push for the next grade. Some started believing they simply couldn't do it.

0 ➡️ 5. 2 ➡️ 6. 3 ➡️ 7.

THAT is why we celebrate progress. 🥹💚

We are ridiculously proud of every one of them — not just for the numbers on a piece of paper today, but for the determination, resilience and hard work behind them.

The child is the curriculum. Always. 💚

🎓 Putting that Education degree and Masters in SEN to very good use! 💚

Knowing what to teach is only part of being a great tutor. Understanding how people learn, having years of teaching experience, and knowing how to adapt in an instant is where the magic really happens.

Tomorrow perfectly sums up why Miss Beth loves what she does. In one day, she’ll be teaching:

📚 An adult with severe dyslexia who never successfully learnt to read or write at school — but is now making fantastic progress.

🔢 A 4-year-old home-educated learner who is just beginning her journey with counting, numbers and writing.

⚓ A Naval Officer developing his maths skills for professional development — with lessons built around real-life and Navy-style scenarios.

🔬 A Year 10 student recently diagnosed with sensory processing difficulties who, with the right tools and teaching approach, is now catching up on missed GCSE Science skills.

📖 A Year 9 student who hasn't been able to attend any education for three years, but is now engaging with KS3 English and Maths and making wonderful progress.

Five completely different learners. Five completely different lessons.

Different ages. Different starting points. Different interests. Different barriers. Different ways of learning.

That’s the beauty of truly bespoke one-to-one tuition. 💚

A great tutor can feed into a student's interests and learning style, plan creatively, spot when something isn't working and completely change direction in an instant.

What an amazing day of teaching ahead. I absolutely love the planning, the delivering, the progress — and most of all, seeing those moments of success and the smiles that come with them. 🥰

This is Learning Pad. Individual learning really does mean individual. 💚

⭐ HE ACHIEVED A C! ⭐

And this wasn’t just about moving up a grade.

He needed that C to secure his place at Sheffield Hallam University to study Quantity Surveying.

His message to his tutor said:

💬 “I was predicted a D but came out with a C so thank you for your help! I got onto my Quantity Surveying course at Hallam so I’m buzzing with it.”

And his mum told us he’d been worried that if he didn’t get the grade, he might have to wait another whole year.

But he did it. 🥹💚

Predicted D ➡️ Achieved C ➡️ University place secured! 🎓

Absolutely brilliant, Jacob. All that hard work has paid off and we couldn’t be happier for you.

A huge well done from everyone at Learning Pad. 💚

We are supporting more and more families whose children are struggling to attend school due to anxiety.

Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) is not about behaviour or choice - it is a sign that a child is struggling and needs understanding and support. Too often families are met with pressure around attendance, rather than support around the underlying needs.

There are rights, there are duties, and there are ways forward - even when things feel really difficult.

New Resource for Rotherham Parent Carers: Understanding Right to Choose Autism & ADHD Assessments

At the Forum, we are often asked about Right to Choose autism and ADHD assessments, how the process works, how to choose a provider, and what families should consider when making this decision.

While we cannot recommend individual providers, we have worked in partnership with parent carers and our local health partners at the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to develop this helpful guide. It outlines the usual assessment pathway in Rotherham and highlights some important questions and considerations that may help you decide whether a Right to Choose provider is the right option for your young person.

We know that navigating assessment pathways can feel overwhelming and sometimes daunting. We hope this resource makes the process a little clearer and helps families feel more confident when exploring their options.

Take a look at the checklist below and save it for future reference.

We are also planning a Parent Carer Right to Choose Event in November, bringing together local commissioners, practitioners, NHS services and approved Right to Choose providers. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the different pathways, ask questions, and help us understand what could make the process easier for children, young people and families.

We will share more details soon; watch this space!
