’S ann à Uig anns an Eilean Sgitheanach a tha Susanne NicDhòmhnaill bho thùs. Tha i na h-Oifigear Leasachaidh aig Cultarlann Inbhir Nis, na stiùiriche aig “Fonn, Fonn, Fonn”, agus na rùnaire aig Comann Gàidhlig Inbhir Nis.

Originally from Uig in Skye, Susanne MacDonald is a passionate advocate for Gaelic language and culture. She is currently a Project Officer for Cultarlann Inhbir Nis and leader of Gaelic song group, "Fonn, Fonn, Fonn”, as well as secretary for the Gaelic Society of Inverness.

Join us online to listen to Susanne sharing stories about her own journey, refections and inspirations, and the importance of cultural centres to bring people together to use, learn and celebrate the Gaelic language.

This online session will be in Gaelic and is free to attend.

Nach eil seo dìreach sgoinneil?! 🤩

Great to see pupils and teachers at Dingwall Primary School enjoying both traditional music sessions funded by the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) this term AND additional opportunities through our Paul Hamlyn Foundation Teacher Development Fund project too.

The YMI funded project is a partnership between High Life Highland (Highland Young Musicians), Fèisean nan Gàidheal, Fèis Rois and several local community Fèisean, and it reaches every primary school in the Highlands, and provides employment for many freelance musicians living here.

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation project is enabling Fèis Rois to partner freelance musicians with 20 Highland primary school teachers to explore how music can be used as a tool to enhance learning and support wellbeing in the classroom.

Ruairidh Mackay (pictured leading a recent workshop in Dingwall Primary) is a former Tain Royal Academy pupil who benefitted from the free instrumental music service at school, as well as additional opportunities through Gizzen Briggs and Fèis Rois. We are delighted that, after graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Ruairidh has chosen to return to live and work in the Highlands.

Oidhche air leth! What a wonderful night we had in Dingwall Academy last night celebrating 95 years since The Clarsach Society was founded during the Royal National Mòd in Dingwall on 25th September 1931. It was amazing to hear 27 harps being played together! Well done to all of the performers. 🤩

What a great night last night at Harps Galore in Dingwall! 27 harps! 95 years of the Clarsach Society! Thanks so much to Fèis Rois for all their coordinating, and Patsy Seddon and Neil Wood for travelling up for the pre-concert talk. Thanks also to our soloists Cheyenne, Fraya, Emma, Jennifer and Bill.

We are excited to be in year two of our Paul Hamlyn Foundation Teacher Development project where we are continuing to work with 20 primary school teachers to explore how music can be used as a tool to enhance learning and wellbeing. We started the year with a creative, and fun, music inservice training day.
