SO MANY DEVELOPMENTAL BENEFITS OF SWINGING

Swinging is not only fun for all children, but it can be calming to children who struggle to regulate and help children who need sensory stimulation for learning!

I love these 50 Coping Skills for Kids. (Again…it could just be coping skills for *anyone*)

I’m going to type them all out in case you have a hard time reading any of them — from approximately left to right, top to bottom.
It’s also important to remember that coping skills develop over time, that modeling is the strongest tool adults have to teach kids how to cope, and that coping skills are intensely personal. What works for one kid does not necessarily work for another. Foisting deep breathing exercises upon a disgruntled child often does not diffuse a situation. (Ask me how I know ;) )

In the comments, there's discussion about who the original source might be (something I have looked into several times!) There is a poster not exactly like this one but extremely similar -- perhaps a more updated version? -- at WholeHearted School Counseling, which can be found here: https://wholeheartedschoolcounseling.com/product/50-coping-tools-for-kids-a-stress-management-self-regulation-coping-skills-sel-lesson-2/?fbclid=IwAR0p9xAVOaH9BtOvR6OQkYFNr00KzkuBofWPad5GQdQI-JknoTeCwQIzMrc

Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder which is best described as a fear of talking and causes someone to freeze in fear when expected to speak. At present the support that is available depends on where you live and whether the person affected has any other conditions. If it comes to a point that these have been dealt with support is often withdrawn leaving families dealing with it on their own and spending considerable amounts of money to receive support and treatment privately. This needs to change. There needs to be an equal standardised pathway of care for all regardless of where they live rather than it being a case of this having to be paid for privately. A change.org petition has been created to petition the government about this in the hope that pathways of care are invested in so those with the condition can receive the support they need.

Please show your support by signing the petition and sharing this post on your timeline.
