Dilwyn Playgroup

Dilwyn Playgroup Dilwyn Preschool is a friendly, play-oriented pre-school where children are encouraged to learn and On Thursdays we currently offer 9am to noon or 1pm.

Dilwyn Playgroup was first established in 1973 run by parents and has developed into an Ofsted registered pre-school setting for 2 to 4 year olds. An experienced, qualified and caring team of staff look after the children, with a high ratio of adults to children meaning individual care and attention is possible. Children can start at Playgroup when they turn 2 years old (and also if they are still

in nappies/pull-ups). Parents are welcome to stay to settle in their children with a free trial session available. We offer full or half day sessions Monday to Friday with the options of 9am to noon, 9am to 1pm or 9am to 3pm. Nursery Education Funding (NEF) is available to all the the term following your child’s 3rd birthday and parents are able to spread their 15 hours entitlement over the week. Some children are entitled to 2 year old funding and 30 hour funding-
We are open during term-time only.

Exciting news, this week we released the butterflies safely, the children were super excited. The preschoolers have started PE practice ready for school, some great team work and dressing skills. We have been enjoying the outdoors as much as we can. Our new theme this term is under the sea ⛵

A busy couple of weeks at playgroup, We are learning all about mini beasts our caterpillars have arrived we are waiting patiently for them to attach to the top ready to move them to the habitat. The weather is being kind to us it's so nice to be able to see the sunshine, lots of planting is on going and some little shoots are emerging on the children's sunflowers ☀️☀️☀️

What a busy week this week. We celebrated world earth day, we had a discussion about ways to keep the earth cleaner and thought of an action we could do, some ideas were picking up rubbish and planting and growing. We did lots of planting this week. Sunflowers have been planted ready for our annual sunflower competition ! and we started in the vegetable patch planting potatoes and sweet peas. We had some special visitors thanks again to Christopher's dad for bringing in your chicks, the children loved holding the chicks and we found out some interesting facts too! The children are very excited to follow the butterfly cycle soon and hopefully watch them transform into butterflies. We have had various creations of children's butterflies over the last couple of weeks 🦋🦋

😊I want to do say a great big thank you to everyone who came and supported us at the Easter Egg hunt, to the committee, playgroup staff and great helpers from the village. We raised £640.35 for Playgroup which as always will go towards new resources for the children and some new rugs. THANK YOU EVERYONE 😊 🙏

Chinese new year. Invitations of play were incorporated this week. We shared a story about Chinese new year and learned about how the colour red was for good luck in the story, there were lanterns and dragons. The children helped make some lanterns and we performed a dragon dance using the scarves.
