South Moreton Pre-School

Last week was all about spring! We learnt about St Patrick’s Day and went on imaginary journey to Ireland to find out about this celebration. We also got messy and made our own shamrocks craft. Our special snack was hummus with veggies we made ourselves.
On Thursday, we helped one of our children to celebrate Nowruz, the Persian New Year and the beginning of spring! We also started a planting season! We got some sunflower seeds and pots and we all enjoyed planting. We hope they will grow into huge sunflowers 🌻
Next week will be the last week of this term and we will focus on spring and Easter 🐣 We are very excited to see our children’s lovely Easter bonnets they made at home for our Easter Bonnet Parade 😊

Happy Mother’s Day from everyone at South Moreton Preschool! 💐😊

Our two main events last week were a visit from the dental nurse, who taught us about about oral hygiene and healthy eating, and World Book Day. Everyone enjoyed showing and sharing their favourite storybooks brought from home and spending a day in reading. We also enjoyed our woodland walk and the quest to find the first signs of spring. Baking some tasty jam tarts were a good fun too 😄

Happy Chinese New Year to everyone who celebrate!

Today we have been learning about Ramadan. We explored this festival by looking at the various information books and the theme-related storybooks. We created ‘crescent moon and the star’ mobiles. There was lots of Ramadan colouring-in especially enjoyed by older children.
We talked about Ramadan Good Deeds examples and spent the day trying to follow these examples and be kind to each other.
We wish Ramadan Mubarak to all our families who observe the holy month!

We took part in celebrating Australia Day on Monday the 26th and had lots of fun learning about amazing Australian animals! We also spent some time exploring the Australian indigenous culture through creating rain stick instruments, boomerangs and aboriginal painting. It was busy and fun 😊
