Butterflies Pre-school Didcot

The weather has been so up and down this week the children clearly thought the monkey needed every type of clothing!! 🤣🤣 🙈 🧥 👖 👕 🩳 🩲 🧦 👞 🧣 🧢

The children have loved having their very own Train Station in the Pre-school this week. They have taken it in turns to work in the ticket office, selling train tickets and giving out timetables and others have been buying tickets and going on the train. They’ve been heading to the beach, Peppa Pig World, London, to the park, etc! 🚂

The children have enjoyed reading our term book “The Train ride” this week and exploring lots of train resources too 🚂
Next week we are going to create our very own Role Play Train Station!

The children have had a lovely time exploring the garden this week in the beautiful weather we’ve had ☀️☀️
When we have been inside we’ve been using some great Maths resources such as Numicon and our new Froggy weighing scales ⚖️ 🐸

Our first week back of the term and the children have been busy exploring some new updates in the garden and mud kitchen. Hopefully we will continue with the nicer weather and be able to spend more time outside. ☀️
We’ve had some new butterflies starting this week who have had a great week and started to settle in well. And well done to our older Butterflies who have helped the children to settle and welcomed them into the pre-school, we are very proud of you 🦋

We’ve been exploring our Term Book this week. “The Dot” by Peter.H.Reynolds.
The children have really enjoyed the story but not only that have created some amazing artwork from dots.
At the writing table we started with just a simple dot on the paper and using their imagination the children have changed that dot into something completely different.
We’ve used some great motor skills to create paintings with paint dabbers and different tools at the easel.
Outside they’ve been using balls and paint to create large art pieces full of dots. The children learnt how pushing hard could create a big dot and being gentle could create a small dot.

Following on from learning about Road Safety with the children we have this great information for Parents and Carers.
Oxfordshire County Council have worked with Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to create this great guide.
Please take a look, there are some great ways to continue teaching your children about Road Safety while out and about and as the poster says “Teaching Road Safety should start early”

We hope all our Butterflies Mummy’s have a great Mother’s Day this weekend. Today Mummy’s (and some Nanny’s) joined us for a Mother’s Day Tea. Thank you for coming, the children loved having you in the pre-school and being able to show you around and spend some time playing together. 🌺

This week the children have enjoyed exploring our Term Book “Owl Babies”. Listening to the story at grouptime and re-visiting it themselves during free play 📕
There’s also been some great imaginative play happening, some have been dressing as Elsa and recreating the Frozen film or turning the pre-school to ice! Others have built a rocket and flown to Space and the moon. 🌒 Some children created an office space and were working very hard on writing out their lists and answering the telephone and others have been Teachers and led there own small group time teaching each other shapes and numbers and making charts to tick off when they got answers correct.
It’s been a great week for lots of role play and communication with each other which is brilliant to see. 💬 😊
