Growing Works is now taking bookings for Sprout, a series of outdoor SEND family sessions taking place at Oakwell Hall Country Park throughout August.

🍃 Wednesdays and Fridays in August | 10am to 2pm

Sprout is a welcoming and accepting space where families can connect with others who understand, enjoy the outdoors, and have fun together. Activities include outdoor play, nature connection, crafts, exploration, and plenty of opportunities to relax and be yourself.

✅ Activities designed for children aged 12 and under
✅ No diagnosis required
✅ Siblings welcome
✅ Parent or carer attendance required
✅ Children's lunch provided

These sessions are for SEND/SEMH families who live in or attend schools in Kirklees.

🌳✨ Our Nursery Leavers' Memory Tree ✨🌳

Today, our nursery leavers created a very special memory tree to celebrate their time with us 💚

Each child drew their favourite thing about nursery onto a leaf 🍃 before adding it to our beautiful tree.

It was so lovely hearing the children's memories and seeing what made their nursery experiences so special to them 🥰

This activity supported so many areas of development, including communication and language as children shared their thoughts and memories, personal, social and emotional development as they reflected on their experiences, and creative development through drawing and self-expression 🎨

It also helped to develop fine motor skills through drawing and handling the leaves, while encouraging children to build confidence, make choices and celebrate their individuality 🌟

A beautiful keepsake and a lovely way to remember all the special moments from nursery 💕🌳

☀️ Stay safe in the sun☀️

Children's skin is more delicate and can burn much faster than adult skin. Taking a few simple precautions can help keep them safe while they enjoy the outdoors.

Remember:

Babies under 6 months should be kept out of direct sunlight.
Dress children in lightweight, long-sleeved clothing and a wide-brimmed hat.
Apply SPF 50 broad-spectrum sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours, as well as after swimming or sweating.

Whether you're heading to the park, the beach, or the backyard, sun safety should be part of every family's routine.
