⚽️This morning at preschool, we had the wonderful Coach Alex from the Kixx academy here for a fun sports and activity session.⚽️

Since the weather was lovely, we took the fun onto the fields, and the children had a fantastic time! These sessions are designed to help our little ones stay healthy and active while boosting their confidence, independence, and gross motor skills. It’s all about building a strong foundation for them as they grow!

The academy are providing initial free sessions at St John Fishers school in September, if any of our families are interested in going.
I have attached the leaflet.🥇

This half term at Pre-school has been filled with fun as the children have been busy exploring and developing new skills. They’ve been building their confidence, gaining independence, and enhancing their social skills through play. One of the highlights was our wrapping box station ! We’re sure many of our families will have noticed the number of "presents" the children brought home, what a joy! We also bought a wonderful new wooden cleaning set for our role play area. The children loved joining in to unwrap it and guessed what was inside with some imaginative guesses like, “Is it an elephant? No, it’s a giraffe!” Eventually, they shouted with excitement, “Ooh, it’s a toy for us!”

We had also applied for funding for free sports sessions, which was accepted! and a sports coach came out for a 1 hr sports activity session which all the children really enjoyed.
We have decided to extend these sessions and have booked in weekly sessions as of January.

Pizza Time

A conversation at register time in the morning started with

"Mariam Im hungry"

I asked "what would you like to eat " and all the children excitedly shouted out "pizza"

I replied " well we cant have pizza for breakfast or can we ?"

The children replied back "but we like pizza "

so then we decided to make pizzas for our snack time.....

Children told us what they liked on their pizza saying "Cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms and pineapples" this is when the giggles started "pineapples ,we cant have pineapples on pizza".

We then sent Yasmin to the shops for our ingredients and we then made our pizzas.

One of the things we learnt from this activity is that all the children at Pre-school actually like pineapple on their pizzas.........

Pumpkins......
At nursery, we've been having a fantastic time with pumpkins! The children explored the pumpkins by observing and feeling their textures. They particularly enjoyed reaching inside to find the seeds and see what was inside. The highlight for them was using children's knives to cut the pumpkins, which they participated in for our soup ingredient preparation. The following day, we enjoyed the delicious soup together. Additionally, the children made their own bread, which they were keen to taste alongside the soup. When snack time came, they were very excited to see the carved pumpkin filled with soup. It was wonderful to see all the children trying the soup and bread they had helped to create.

This term, the children have shown a keen interest in space and rockets, so we adapted our role-play area into a Space Centre. Here, the children explored different rocks, learned about the names of the planets, and even created their own models of the solar system. They enjoyed playing with our space rocket, dressing up as astronauts, and having fun in the moon sand. The children confidently shared what they knew about space, saying things like, “a rocket ship goes into space” and “the moon is made of sand.” Additionally, they used their developing understanding of shapes to create their own space rockets, proudly presenting their creations to one another. Learning about space taps into their natural curiosity and wonder. Many children are intrigued by the universe, and discussions about planets and the solar system help engage their inquisitive minds.

Last week, children and staff, along with their parents, visited the Little town of Play. The children enjoyed exploring different areas of the town while engaging with both their peers and the adults.

During the trip, Mariam shared a story that encouraged the children to actively participate in retelling it. Yasmin was a patient in the doctors surgery and was looked after very well by our pre-school doctor.😀
