🥚We have Eggcelent news!🥚

One of our lovely ladies has laid an egg! The children have been so excited to see the first egg from our chickens! From joining us as little eggs themselves to laying their very own, the children have learnt so much about the cycle!

🐢 Sally the Tortoise 🐢

Our toddlers had a very special visitor from- Sally the tortoise as she came to explore our garden! 🌿🐢

She was super speedy as she made her way around, so we all used our lovely quiet voices to make sure we didn’t scare her. The children took turns getting a closer look and gently feeling her shell. 💚

It was such a wonderful opportunity to encourage curiosity, kindness and gentle hands while learning all about our little shelled friend. 🐢🥰

🌳🦊🐍🦉 Gruffalo Hunt in the Woods! 🍃👣

Today our toddlers headed into the woods for an exciting Gruffalo hunt! Using their wonderful imaginations, they brought the story of The Gruffalo to life as they searched for the animals and discovered where they might live.

The children searched for the snake in the log pile house 🐍, the owl in the treetop house 🦉, and the fox in the underground house 🦊!

They carefully looked for animal footprints 👣, listened closely for animal noises 👂 and used all their senses as they explored the woodland.

It was wonderful to see their curiosity, imagination and excitement shining through as they became little woodland explorers! 🌿✨

What a magical adventure! 💚

🎨 Colour Mixing Fun! 🎨

Our toddlers had lots of fun exploring large-scale painting on tin foil! 🖌️

They experimented with different colours, watched them mix and change, and talked together about the colours they could see. 🌈

We encouraged lots of language as the children described their paintings, named colours and shared their ideas.

🐞🌿 From Courgette to Ladybirds! 🌿🐞

This morning we picked one of our home-grown courgettes from the allotment! 🥒

We then carefully sliced it up and got creative, painting each slice red and transforming them into our very own ladybirds🐞

We love using things we have grown ourselves to inspire our creativity and learning. What a lovely way to bring a little bit of our allotment into the nursery! 🌱🎨

🪳🐌🐍 ZooLab🐍 🐌🪳

Today we had a very exciting visit from ZooLab!

The children were surprised to see some special animals. They were very inquisitive, asking lots of questions about what the animals eat, the habitats they live in and what they feel like!

These experiences help to broaden children’s awareness of the natural world, invite a unique approach to learning and allow each child to lead in the own curiosity.

🎨🧵 String Painting Fun! 🧵🎨

Today our toddlers had lots of fun exploring a different way of painting — using string! 🌈✨

They confidently identified their colours and enjoyed experimenting with the string to create their own unique and beautiful artwork. It was wonderful to see their creativity, curiosity and confidence shine through! 🖌️

This morning in Forest School, we made the most of the wonderful blackberries growing on our bramble bush by creating our very own natural blackberry paint! 🍇🎨

The children loved exploring different ways to paint, using brushes as well as feathers we found on the ground near the Meadow. 🪶

They experimented with making different marks, patterns, and textures while discovering how nature can inspire creativity.

A fantastic morning full of exploration, imagination, and outdoor learning! 🌿💜

🌳🎨 Our Forest School children have been busy creating beautiful paintings inspired by the woodland around them! The children carefully observed the trees, explored colour mixing to create different shades of green for the leaves, and produced some amazing nature-inspired artwork. We are so proud of their creativity! 🍃💚

Taking our nursery goats, Fern and Dorris, for a little walk around the community today! 🐐❤️
