We would like to say a massive thank you to Devizes Police for visiting our nursery today.
Their visit helped support the children to understand important topics such as what to do if they were lost and how to stay safe around strangers.
The officers engaged brilliantly with the children, answering their questions and they even had time to try out our new play area ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

We are truly grateful for their time and support.

We were very pleased to welcome Damion from Devizes Fit and Fran from Wadworth for a visit to observe our newly finished sensory room and to see first hand the impact their generous donations to this area will have for our children.
We hope our newly established sensory room will provide a comfortable and calming environment for our children and will support their emotional regulation and sensory needs through activities and resources tailored to each childโ€™s individual needs.
This area will offer a dedicated space that fosters self-discovery and independence as the children develop an understanding of their emotional regulation.

Following on from the children's observations of bees in our garden the children in the Squirrels room have been learning all about bees and the important role they play.
To extend the children's learning and understanding further we were visited today by one of our parents who is a bee keeper.
He talked to the children about how the honey is made, how he extracts the honey from the honeycomb by using a smoker to make the bees sleepy and how it becomes lovey, sticky honey for us to eat.
The children loved the visit and information that was learnt was shared with their parents at home time.
This was such an amazing learning experience for the children to handle real objects and to discover how the honey is produced.
We would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to Wainwrights Bee Farm who are based at Strawberry Hill West Lavington for coming in and so kindly donating 27 jars of honey so each child was able to take a jar home with them

We love loose parts ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Offering a range of movable resources, such as crates, planks, cogs, wheels, and similar items, enables our children to participate in creative and imaginative play experiences.
These activities also foster resilience when they face challenges, encourage collaboration and promote communication.
By manipulating and arranging loose parts our children develop spatial awareness, fine and gross motor skills, and gain a sense of achievement from constructing and deconstructing their own creations.
These resources also support problem-solving as the children figure out how to balance, connect, or build with the materials. Through working together, they learn valuable lessons in teamwork and communication, as well as negotiation and compromise.

Their enthusiasm has been evident as they constructed, experimented, and worked together to bring their ideas to life.
