Each week we try and do a mixture of activities.

This week we have been to the library, completed craft at toddler group, taken an obstacle course to the woods and had a trip to Stonehenge where we got to go on a gold bus!

A big thank you to my lovely son who took the very faded roof off the playhouse, gave it a good clean and repainted it. It looks much better now!

An end of term treat to Butterfly World for our Little Acorns.

We fed the goats, sheep, chickens and fish and watched the beautiful butterflies flying around.

Happy Monday! We started off our ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar” topic with reading the story in the garden followed by painting caterpillars using Duplo bricks then free painting with them.

We continued our day with a trip to the park and playing in the garden.

We were very grateful to have the lovely, cool cellar as the playroom. As it is underground it stays at a maximum of 20 degrees and we can play safely.

We went for an early walk on Monday and played with bubbles in the woods before the temperature got too hot but we have mostly stayed inside during the heatwave.

Looking forward to a cooler week next week!

I have seen some debate on children’s art work and whether hand prints should be used or whether it takes away from it being the child’s work.

Here at Chirton Little Acorns, we do a mixture of adult-led artwork and free art. The children learn new skills when following an adult and they often love doing it.

The children are also given lots of opportunities to explore arts and crafts simply for enjoying the experience. Sometimes we do a joint artwork or we use chalks or water in the garden to express ourselves and sometimes we use paper and take home our creations.

Today we have used paint, glue, googly eyes, pipe cleaners and stickers.

Our Acorns inevitably leave us sooner or later to go on to do other things so we were very excited yesterday when one of our older Acorns came to play when his school had a teacher training day.

We went to the woods, read stories and played with bubbles. He fitted right back in despite not being here for 2 years.
