📸 Pick of the Week 📸

Each week, every class will share a selection of photographs capturing some of the wonderful learning and experiences taking place in school.

Our Pick of the Week is designed to help parents and carers engage with their children’s learning. We hope these photographs encourage you to chat with your child about their week—what they learned, what they enjoyed and what made them smile—while strengthening that important connection between home and school.

We are delighted to share our first Pick of the Week of the new academic year! Our pupils have now completed their first full week and have settled back into school life beautifully. They have enjoyed reconnecting with their friends and teachers, easing back into familiar routines and beginning lots of exciting new learning.

It has been a wonderful start, and we look forward to a happy and successful year together at Holy Child Primary School and Nursery Unit.

Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day. 💙💛

Today our whole school community gathered for our Beginning of Year Mass in St Mary’s Parish, Creggan.

All of the boys and girls from Primary 3–7 attended and Mrs Concannon was so proud of the prayerful reverence they showed throughout the celebration.

A huge thank you to Fr Mc Faul for celebrating the Mass with us, to all our readers, our P5 children who brought up the gifts, and our wonderful choir who sang so beautifully. Today’s Mass was further enriched by the beautiful accompaniment on the Harp by Miss Kelly. Thank you also to all the parents and grandparents who attended

It was a truly special and meaningful way to begin our new school year together.

🍽️ P1’s First School Dinner! 🍽️

Our Primary 1 pupils enjoyed their very first school dinner in big school today!

This year, we have chosen to have the P1 children’s canteen meals delivered to their classrooms. This allows them to enjoy lunch in familiar surroundings, giving them an added sense of comfort and security as they settle into their new routines before moving to the big canteen.

The new routine went extremely smoothly, and all the children thoroughly enjoyed their dinner.

A huge thank-you to our canteen staff for preparing such a lovely meal, and to our lunchtime supervisors and P1 staff for making the children’s first school dinner such a calm, happy and positive experience.

Well done, Primary 1! 🌟

🚗 Morning Stop and Drop Reminder 🚗

Just a reminder about our morning Stop and Drop system, which worked extremely well last year and will continue this year.

Please stop and drop your child off only in the designated area, which is clearly identified by cones and markings. We kindly ask that cars do not park in this area, as it must remain clear for parents using the Stop and Drop facility.

If you would prefer to park and walk your child into school, please park at the nursery side of the school.

Keeping the designated area clear helps to ease congestion and ensures a safer and smoother start to the day for everyone.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

⚽️ Trojans Football Club Training Schedule ⚽️

Please see below the training schedule for Trojans Football Club.

Trojans FC is a fantastic local club at the heart of Creggan, with many of our boys and girls already attending. It is a wonderful way for children to keep active, make new friends and become involved in their local community.

New members are always very welcome!

📚 Well done, Thea! 📚

We are extremely proud of Thea P3, who continued reading throughout the summer holidays. She visited Creggan Library on numerous occasions and managed to read an incredible 36 books!

What a fantastic achievement, Thea. We are all very proud of you! 🌟👏

💙 A special message to our past Primary 7 pupils who are taking their first steps into their new secondary schools today.

Good luck, boys and girls—you will always have a place in our Holy Child family. 💛

👩‍🏫Meet the Teachers Week at Holy Child Primary School.

Next Wednesday and Thursday we will hold ‘Meet the Teacher’ meetings for each year group. A note about your child’s year group time will be sent out today via Seesaw, it is also posted below. If you are not sure what time your child’s meeting is, please don’t hesitate to contact the teacher via SeeSaw or call the office on 02871 261263.

Education is always a three-way process, the teachers, the students and the parents. It is only when all three of these elements are committed to working together that the best education is achieved. Our staff look forward to meeting all parents and working closely with them throughout the year to ensure that Every Child gets Every Chance, Every Day.
