Food is never just food in Italy. 🍝🇮🇹
For us, a meal is a meeting place.
It is where we share our stories, solve our problems and show love.
When an Italian asks, “Hai mangiato?” (Have you eaten?), they are really saying, “I care about you”.
Here is why the table ( la tavola )matters so much:
Connection: Sunday lunch can last for hours because being together is the main goal.
Memory: Every dish tells a story of our hometown, our parents, and our nonne (grandmothers).
Identity: Certain recipes are sacred.
Changing a core ingredient can feel like changing history.
But there is also…
Creativity: Constantly coming up with new combinations of ingredients or variations of classic dishes to share with family and friends.
Food keeps our roots alive, no matter where we study or live.
