Return to School Preparations
Our staff have been busy this week preparing to welcome all the boys and girls back to school on Tuesday. We have been engaged in a wide variety of training opportunities including ICT, health and safety, data analysis and child protection. We have also been reflecting upon our vision and values and our unique Catholic ethos. On Wednesday we joined colleagues from schools across the Diocese for the Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre gathering. Our staff had the opportunity to hear from a range of inspiring facilitators, including keynote speaker Dr. Melodie Wyttenbach, who shared an uplifting message for the year ahead. The celebration of the Eucharist was lead by Bishop Donal McKeown; who encouraged those in attendance to continue creating paths of hope and faith for our young people, while it was also a pleasure to hear encouraging words from our new Bishop-elect, Bishop Michael Router. It has been a positive and inspiring start for our staff as we look forward to welcoming our pupils back and beginning another successful year together. Enjoy the last of the summer holidays and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday- breakfast club from 8.10am, school gates open from 8.45am!

Is your child starting pre-school or primary school this September? 🎒

There are lots of simple ways you can help your child feel ready and confident for starting school.

💬 Talk together about what their new school or setting might be like before they start. This can help ease worries and build excitement.

📖 Why not visit your local library and let your child choose a book that interests them? Sharing stories together helps children feel content, secure and confident, while also supporting important language and communication skills.

Remember, you don't have to read every word! Looking at the pictures, talking about the story and asking questions are all great ways to enjoy books together.
