🌊 That’s a wrap on Summer Schemes 2026! 🌊

And what a summer it has been.

Our final week, Smooth Sailing, has brought our Summer Schemes journey to a close - but what a journey it has been. From the first notes of Musical Mayhem, heading Into The Wild, getting creative with Totally Toys, finding our stars during Studio2’s Got Talent, reaching for the sky in Reach For The Sky, and finally sailing into our last week together with Smooth Sailing.

Six weeks of creativity, laughter, friendship, fun, new experiences and memories that we hope will stay with our young people long after the summer is over.

But none of this happens without an incredible team behind the scenes.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to every volunteer, facilitator and member of our kitchen team who gave their time, energy, patience and care to make each day happen. You helped create spaces where children could be themselves, try something new, make friends, build confidence and, most importantly, have fun.

To our parents and guardians, thank you for trusting us with your children and for supporting them throughout the summer.

And most importantly, to every child who joined us - thank you. Thank you for the laughter, the imagination, the big ideas, the questions, the talent, the enthusiasm and all the moments that made these six weeks so special. You brought the heart to Summer Schemes.

We also want to express our sincere thanks to all of our funders and supporters who make this programme possible:

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade - Reconciliation Fund
Education Authority
Arts Council of Northern Ireland / National Lottery
Derry City & Strabane District Council
Apex Housing Association
Northern Ireland Housing Executive
Choice Housing
Housing For All
Community Relations Council
T:BUC

Your support helps us continue creating opportunities for children and young people and building a shared city and a shared culture.

So, as we bring Smooth Sailing and Summer Schemes 2026 to an end, we simply want to say:

Thank you. πŸ’™

Thank you to everyone who helped us make it happen, and thank you to every young person who made this summer what it was.

Until next time... smooth sailing! β›΅πŸŒŠ

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±βœ¨ Krakow 2026 – Day One! βœ¨πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±

Nine of our fantastic young people, along with our Youth Leader in Charge, Aislinn Breslin, and Youth Work Assistant, Ally Fitzpatrick, have travelled to Krakow, Poland as part of an amazing group of 28 young people and staff from youth organisations across our city.❀️

This five-day trip marks the final part of our young people’s OCN Level 2 in Good Relations and Diversity. Over the past five months, the group have been working, learning and exploring together, supported by staff from Apex Housing, who have funded this fantastic project, and Springboard Belfast, who have facilitated the course.
It has been wonderful to watch the group grow throughout the programme, particularly seeing new friendships develop between young people from different organisations and communities. What started as a group of individuals has become a fantastic team, and we’re so excited to see those friendships and connections continue to grow during our time in Poland. 🌍🀝

Today was Day One, and it was very much a day of travelling! ✈️🚌 After a long journey, we are now settled in and ready to make the most of the adventure ahead.

Tomorrow, the real exploring begins! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±β€οΈ
We’re looking forward to getting out and about, seeing the beautiful city of Krakow, continuing our learning and, most importantly, making memories that our young people will hopefully remember for many years to come.

A huge well done to all 28 young people and staff for the commitment they have shown over the past five months. We can’t wait to see what the next few days bring!
Krakow, here we come! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±βœ¨
