Lessons are one hour in duration, and would be in person only. Where possible, I am happy to be flexible with scheduling week-to-week. However, I am not currently able to travel to students' houses. For KS3 and below, I can offer tutoring in maths only, with the option of shorter half-hour sessions if that is more suitable. At university level, I may be able to offer tutoring for modules in maths
and/or statistics for science degrees (such as physics, engineering or medical sciences); I will consider this case by case on the basis of module content. Get in touch and I will be happy to discuss. I have an academic background in Physics. My degrees are MSci Natural Sciences, Experimental & Theoretical Physics (Cambridge) and PhD Geophysics (UCD), and I worked in research for a number of years, in the field of Statistical Geophysics. I have experience of one-to-one teaching at both school and university level. My strengths as a tutor are in teaching the student how to solve problems in physics and maths by breaking them down; lessons would be oriented around problems from past papers and other sources. Students often suffer from a lack of confidence in more mathematical subjects, but I believe they can be made accessible. My approach is to be as flexible as possible to each student's individual needs and to encourage them to have confidence in their own thought processes. My rates are:
A-Level and Leaving Cert | £40 or €45 p/hour
GCSE and Junior Cert | £30 or €35 p/hour
KS3 and below | £25 or €30 p/hour
University | £50 or €55 p/hour
I would be happy to discuss a reduced rate for groups.
